Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews by Ilona Andrews

Date: 22 February
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
Ilona Andrews is my favorite UF author. I love, love Kate Daniels series. But I was a little apprehensive about this series mainly because I've read the hero was supposed to be really alpha and I was worried he would be an alphahole. Well, it turned out to be needless since they pulled it off again.

I loved Nevada - she's so tough. The world again looks to be a magic-prevalent world but it wasn't that similar to the Kate Daniels' mainly because there are no shape-shifters (so far) and the focus seems to be a little diff. I'm still not completely sold on the male lead, Mad Rogan. (view spoiler) is still hard to forgive. But the small HQN Presents loving person inside me fell hook, line and sinker into the bait thrown from his PoV. Which basically means, I loved the book but the next book is so far, far, far away. Where is that dratted Time Machine?

I'm just now starting my Free Space book :) I took a day off reading so I could do some girl things with my besty like shop and go to the movies ... Saw Jupiter Ascending, it was really good but then anything with Channing Tatum is always worth a watch ;);)

Looking forward to the new shelf today I hope it's a good one for us ... I'll work hard to get my Free space book done by Friday before my other team challenge has to pick books to read.

Judithe do you have the Pocket Whip app on your phone? A neurosurgeon we work with put it on mine. He said I was the first person he thought of when he heard about it. Hmmm...

Moondance (moondance120) | 2141 comments WEEK 1: FAVORITE (series)

Kitty in the Underworld by Carrie Vaughn
Read 2.22.15
Rating 3.5
Review:

Online research was a mixed bag.

Kitty is kidnapped while investigating unkbown weres in her territory. Her kidnappers think they have a way to stop Dux Bellarum (Roman) but she is not sure she can trust them. The book is told in a series of stories.

First of all, I love the Kitty series. This book was a bit of a let down. It seemed to drag a bit here and there. I usually read these books in one sitting and then get mad at myself because it will be so long before the next one. I missed the usual crew. I am weary of the Long Game and just want it to be over. I am however looking forward to the next book because I love me some Cormac.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) I read Death Magic (World of the Lupi, #8) by Eileen Wilks yesterday. I just looked and it's in SOS bookshelf, so I'll change my my free space book to this one. I never seem to stick to books I've planned. I'll post review in bit.

Shadow Walker by Allyson James
Read 2.24.15
Rating: 4 stars
Review:

Nothing quite makes your night like falling two hundred feet into a sinkhole.

Janet and Nash fall into a sinkhole in the desert that is inhabited by creatures with skeletal hands. Mick rescues them but not before Janet is touched by one of the hands. Mick is the only one able to cure her. Mick returns to the hole to investigate. He returns slightly changed. The magic mirror is screaming and tells Janet that Mick is not what he seems.

I really enjoy this series. I am so happy that there was more of Mick in this one. I like that Janet and Mick's relationship is on more stable ground although I do appreciate Nash as well. This was a well paced book that makes me eager to read the next one.

Death Magic (World of the Lupi, #8) by Eileen Wilks -- Eileen Wilks

Read: 24/02/15
Rating: 4 stars

Review:
This book was very good, the best of the last few. Love Lily and Rule as a couple, they truly are good together. There was a few surprises in this one. One I definitely didn't see coming. You got to love the magical creatures too. The dragon have been around and are very interesting, but Brownies were introduced in this one and they were a great addition. The mystery element was good too. Looking forward to reading the next book.

OK for this weeks shelf I have 4 choices to pick from

Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh New2Me Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop Re-read Drop Dead Demons (Divinicus Nex Chronicles #2) by A&E Kirk Continuation Forsaken (The Demon Trappers, #1) by Jana Oliver New2Me

Out of the 4, 1 have read before many many years ago and have been wanting to re-read the series for a long time now because I loved it so much. 2 are new to me authors and 1 is a continuation of a series I started last year ... gosh I didn't think this was going to be so hard!!!

Those are the 2 that I'm leaning towards the most :) I read Daughter of the blood well over 10 years if not longer and I often find myself saying I really need to go back and re-read that, and I've heard nothing but Glowing reviews for The Guild Hunter series and have been wanting to start it.

Well it looks like my list just got shorter...lol Thanks Danielle :)

I can only comment on 2 out of those 4 but if have to pick 1 for you to start it would have to be Daughter of the Blood it's definitely one of my all time favorite series out there. The Original trilogy, books 1-3 are the very best but all the others are really great too. I love that world a lot :)

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

OK I've narrowed my list from 4 to 2

Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh or Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop

I'm going to give each one the first chapter test and see which one grabs me :)

I'll let you know in a bit what my final decision will be

Vi | 943 comments Danielle's post reminded me to continue the Blood of the Luoi series - so Night Season (World of the Lupi, #4) by Eileen Wilks is my choic for demons, it's shelved by 12 people.

I've started Shifting Shadows Stories from the World of Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs for the Freespace.

It is always good to be able to double up on a challenge!

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes I Love it when things work out like that. I can mange 2 books a week fine but if I have to stick a third in there I start to panic a bit just cause I know I'm not the fastest read out there, so right now I'm trying like mad to get my Free Space book read for my Bingo Team Challenge that way it's out of the way and then I'll only only have the 1 book a week for that challenge too :)

SOS Bookshelf Bingo R11 ~ Free Space

My Commander (Bewitched and Bewildered, #1) by Alanea Alder by Alanea Alder

Finished:27/02/15
Rating:5♥

Review:
This is my first time reading a book by Alanea Alder and it certainly won't be the last! My Commander is with out a doubt the best book I have read in 2015 so far and take it from me when I say that I don't give out 5 stars easily.

I don't think I have ever laughed so much reading one book in my entire life. The main character Meryn is the most hilarious character I have ever had the pleasure of reading, she is a spunky, sassy, foul mouthed little spit fire all rolled up in the guise of a Nerd! In fact I fell in love with all the characters main and secondary and The Tampon Mission was probably the best chapter in the entire book.

The way I felt while reading this was like sitting and listening to a good friend tell you an unbelievable story that you couldn't even fathom as being true. I only have two small complaints with the book, 1: there were more then a few grammar issues, that could have been picked up with better editing and 2: I thought that the heroine fell for said Hero just a little to fast, I mean 2 days and your in love with the guy... WTH! granted they didn't actually sleep together until the last 80 pages of the book but for me her acceptance was just way to fast.

That being said it in no way, took way from my profound pleasure of reading this book. If you are looking to read something light, fun and hilarious then this is the book for you. I loved it and can't wait to read books 2 and 3 very very soon.

It was so much fun to read I laughed pretty much the entire time I was reading ... I'm only sorry that I couldn't start book 2 right away if only it would have been on the demons shelf, I'm hoping it will fit the next shelf called so I can keep going with the series

I'm finding my demons book a little slow to start for me, I might start something else that fits this shelf and see which one I get done on time ... I think I might just be suffering a case of the awesome book blues since my free space was so very good but I will push on and hopefully things will start picking up for me :)

I had a hard time with that book as well. I agree that it is hard to read a mediocre book after reading one that was so awesome.

For a Few Demons More (The Hollows, #5) by Kim Harrison -- Kim Harrison
Read: 01/03/15
Rating: 5 stars

Review:
Something happens in this book and I was sort of dreading reading that part again and even though I knew it was coming it was still so hard to read. So heartbreaking, it had me crying again. I am however enjoying my reread of The Hollows. Rachel is an enjoyable heroine to read, she has her faults. I like that about her.

Good Job ✼Danielle✼ your the first one done their Demons book!

I think I have finally settled on the 1 book I'm going to read for Demons Drop Dead Demons (Divinicus Nex Chronicles #2) by A&E Kirk it seems to be the one that is keeping me most interested. I'm still going to finish Angels' Blood with the hope that it gets better for me I like to give books a fair shot before I retire them :)
