I picked up this book in 2021. I was only able to read a couple chapters while I was waiting in the library. I believe it was written by a woman author. I'm mad at myself for not writing the title of it anywhere since the premise and story was interesting, so if anybody knows what it is I'd really appreciate it.

So was it revealed in the opening chapters that the killer was his wife? Or was it meant to be a twist later in the book, but you knew about it from e.g. reading a review?

it's in the synopsis of the book actually. The story doesn't hide this aspect of the wife's character as it focuses more on the if, how and when her husband, the detective, is going to realize it's her and how the wife, the serial killer, evades and misdirects him.
