Soulboundby Kristen Callihan
Finished: 2/27/15
Rating: ★★★★
Review: I love this series and this book was really good. Eliza was an amazingly strong woman who more than equaled the King of the GIM. Their passion was intense even though for the time period it felt a bit weird having the woman be experienced while the man was a virgin. This, however, was well explained and the issue was basically just mine. I felt at times this book lulled and I found I went 2 days without reading it without really realizing it. What I mean is that when I wasn't reading it I wasn't thinking about it. There was no urgency for me to get back to it. I also thought the epilogue could have been used as more of a way to see what Adam and Eliza were up to after the HEA but true to form Callihan used it as a way to push us readers into the potential next book. On one hand I like this but on the other I'm still needing more info on the couple I just read about. Most of the issues are, as I mentioned earlier, just mine and most readers wouldn't get hung up on them.

Hope you enjoy it, Christina. It's one of the most unique books I've ever read.

I wasn't able to hold out on continuing after reading

Enjoy!

The Martian by Andy Weir

Review:
Whaaaaaaaaaaat!?! This book was CRAZY GOOD. I cannot stop thinking about it, even two days later. I am shamelessly recommending it and talking it up to everyone I know. I am so excited there's going to be a movie version too!
Mark is stranded on Mars after an accident during a dust storm. He's injured, his life systems are failing, his monitors read zeroes across the board...so his team assumes him dead and leaves before their ship gets ripped to pieces.
He's alone. On Mars. And he doesn't have enough food or a way to communicate with Earth. No one even knows he's alive. But he is a botanist and a mechanical engineer and an astronaut, paired with a biting sense of humor and a never-give-up attitude, he has all the tools he needs to survive.
The book pulls you in through Mark's strong and entertaining voice. He narrates his tale through log entries on his computer, and the fear and desolation are so compelling I could barely put down the book. Tons of action, lots of believable science that never seemed to get boring, and through it all a character with so much courage and wit that I fell completely in love.
Read this book!

Night Broken by Patricia Briggs (favorite author)
Finished: 3/5/15
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Okay, Christy is the worst. Can we get that out there? I haven't found a character so frustrating and easy to hate since Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Umbridge, right? Ugh.
I feel like these last few books are really building up the mythology in a way that reminds me of Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid books. I like it, but it's different. I feel like the battles aren't quite as exciting. Juan Flores didn't do much for me, and nothing was really resolved with Christy either which was very unsatisfying. But Mercy and Adam together are what keeps me coming back. And they did not disappoint!
I'm looking forward to see where their story heads next.

Review: Although the plot is predictable and the romance is lukewarm, there is always something about Krantz's writing that appeals to me. In any case, this is a good conclusion to the Arcane Society and I'm looking forward to reading more about Rainshadow Island.

Thanks Sandra. Totally missed that :0)

OK. Updated the shelf post.

Review: This book was freaking awesome. I loved the world building and the characters were amazing. At first it was unnerving that the Others seemed incapable of compassion. Bishop took great care in making sure we knew that they here NOT human. There was a scene early on that demonstated this where the Wolves feasted on some intruders. It was eye opening for sure. Not only was the action really good, the world building great, and the characters amazing but the humor was fun too. It helped cut through the dark undertones of the book to make the tone of the book lighter. I'm looking forward to the next book a lot.

Review: I'm always amazed anew at Singh's fantastic world building skills. No detail is too small or too insignificant and every element comes together to form a captivating backdrop to Elena and Raphael's breathtaking romance. My one small nitpick in this one is that the plot isn't as interesting as in the first two books. Looking forward to Dmitri meeting his match in the next installment.
