The only thing I remember for sure about this book is that one of the main characters is a young girl named Elliot who walks on her toes because it's stealthier. It's set in a sort of dystopian, apocalyptic world. I think it's possible there's a sort of upper and lower world like in Gregor the Overlander. I remember there being a male character who she has to show the ropes of the land. I feel like there was something to do with a tornado or something on the cover, but I really don't know for sure.

It would’ve been sometime around 2011/12 Early middle school, late elementary school.

I found it! Remembers something about spirals and a spiral staircase and looked that up. It’s the tunnels series by Roderick Gordon
