I wrote another book shortly thereafter but shelved it. I did some living, some working, and priorities shifted. Then a pandemic hit. Wow. So, hey, if you're reading this? We made it! To what? I dunno. To now! Yay! Hang in there with me, yeah? Anyhow, I digress. LOCKDOWNS! I took it off the shelf, dusted it off, and polished it up.
Honestly, The Cart Massacres is tough to describe. It's a satire/dark humor set in the present/near future, in and around my hometown of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. I’d like to believe it's relatable to life in a lot of places, though. It has a thread of science fiction intertwined throughout, with a galloping dose of it towards the end. Uh... Yeah. Alternate Universes get tricky, and such. Oh, did I mention a not-at-all violent sport involving grocery carts? This one, despite having many truths hidden within its pages, leans a touch to the side of raunch. Just a little. So, if you're looking for more purity in your sci-fi, please do check out Enter Final Gamer - - -
I'd had an idea brewing in my head for a bright utopian novel for years, though I couldn't quite wrap my head around how to tell it without boring readers into comas. How does one create drama to carry a meaningful story in what is, by all measures, a true utopia? A magic(?) combination of Cipralex, coffee, and lockdown induced mania resulted in an epiphany – a means to tell this incredibly complex story. The first draft… goodness, me. A manic mess! I literally wasn’t myself, but I guess I couldn’t be myself, or this tale would never have been told. Luckily, my trusted beta readers gave me some great guidance. (That’s an inside joke you’ll only understand if you read the book! Mwuhaha!)
You’d probably love a caption followed by a description or something, eh? Fine, fine… Since you're awesome.
“…life was purely what people made of it, without the distraction of potent, random influences. It’d been the endless, shining, gleaming, flashing interior of a pinball machine; all glitz and glamour: one without a nefarious pinball banging around, cracking the inlays and wearing out the bumpers… that life was taken from everyone when the Final Gamer entered the scene.”
Eons from now, humanity has spread throughout the Universe to its very ends, quelling every last star system. But the introduction of a prophesized wildcard puts all utopia on edge. A pop-culture-driven tale of Science Fiction and High Drama, with even higher stakes.
I’m in the process of having audiobooks mastered for all three novels, and have discontinued renewing my contracts with KDP select – meaning as they expire over the next few months, you can expect these books to show up on Smashwords (and any other places I can maybe rake in a dime or two) in due course. (They’re all currently available for sale on Amazon in eBook, paperback, and hardcover formats.)
Okay – the windbag has now successfully climbed out of his pandemic-hovel and done some self-promotion today. Yay me! (Maybe now my psychotherapist will get off my back about it!)
Also, if you do happen to purchase and read any of these, thank you so much for the support, and please do rate & review. Algorithms, and such… o_o
I’d love any engagement you fine folks would care to throw my way. Cheers, everyone. Stay well out there.
