It doesn't have to be on the cover. Either listed on Goodreads or on the cover on Goodreads. :)
I thought the rule was that we were going with which name they used on the cover, because it was stated they had to use it professionally (on the cover).

Not exclusively. It can be either the book cover/Goodreads. Some books don't list the author on the cover, so it just has to be listed on Goodreads or the book cover.
"Author names MUST be the names found on the book cover/Goodreads. It doesn't matter if someone's middle name is the same letter, if they don't use it professionally."
It’s that last sentence that makes it sound like it has to be on the cover. There are several authors who use their middle names on GR but not on any of their books, thus not using it professionally on their books. I’m so confused.

Ah. I can understand how that could be confusing and I'm sorry about that. If it is listed on Goodreads as their name, then we would consider it professionally used, as it is publicly used. Wrong wording. It's just that if you have to go searching online to find out their middle name, that doesn't work, but it being their "author name" on Goodreads is considered professionally/publicly used in our game. I hope that answers the question.
