I read this book around 1995 and I think this was a newish book at that time. I can't remember if it was YA or for adults, but it definitely was not a children's book. It was hardcover, probably 300 to 400 pages. The title was something like "Point of No Return" or "Road to Nowhere." It is not Road to Nowhere by Christopher Pike.

The cover is what I remember the most. I think it was the view from the back seat of a car. In the driver's seat is a skeleton, zombie or otherwise dead/undead thing either looking back at you, or seen through the rear view mirror. The car was in the desert.

Given the cover, I'm assuming this was a horror book, but to be honest I can't remember the content of the book hardly at all.

I know this is vague, but I've spent a few hours plugging various keywords into Google image searches and I just can't find this book. Normally that works for me, but this time it just isn't.
