Man #1 has a fight with a women #1 (girlfriend maybe) to start it off, we also learn he has insomnia or troubles sleeping and takes medication. When he goes to sleep because of deprivation he suddenly begins to watch what he thinks is man #2 in his house hunting and chasing down women #1 but man #1 can’t do anything to stop man #2. Man #2 wears a camera on his head (I think) to record everything he does then when man #1 wakes up every morning, he finds a hard drive where he can rewatch what happened, which tells him it’s not a dream. Long story short, a certain piece of furniture is eventually moved where there’s a ladder underneath the house. With every night more information is added for us and for man #1 to piece everything together. Man #1 then makes his way down where he eventually finds women #1 and she is terrified when she sees man #1. Confused he tries to talk to her and eventually she talks about how he is the one who has been doing this to her, and how he’s been the one recording it the whole time, and that man #1 and man #2 are actually the same man, but when he sleeps he can’t control anything he does. Anyways one of them die I can’t remember but the police get involved at the end of the book and your left in suspense.
