The Crown Colony is historical set in 1930s Singapore. I don't believe Singapore Mystery series is historical. I have read Aunty Lee's Delights and it was quite humorous.

I look forward to read Frangipani Tree.

I hope you enjoy her books

I have started The Frangipani Tree Mystery The Frangipani Tree Mystery (Crown Colony #1) by Ovidia Yu yesterday. Love it. Set in 1936 Singapore. Ms. Yu does a great job describing the time period and the people of Singapore and how colonial rule effects the country. Only 40 pages in but really enjoy it. Will be reading more today.

I finished it last night and greatly enjoyed it. I really liked representation of the people of Singapore, their diversity and life under British rule. I am looking forward to book 2.

John The first two Crown Colony books were solid, but I found the third one... disjointed, I suppose. More of a ramble than a mystery. Not interested in the Japanese Occupation period. Tried the first Aunty Lee, which didn't work for me, even though Singaporean (Straits) cuisine is probably my favorite.

Sandy | 1632 comments I'm reading the second in the Crown Colony series, The Betel Nut Tree Mystery and enjoying it as much as I did the first. An interesting series set in a place whose history and culture I do not know.

John Su Lin does not let the incredible racism of the period define her!

I am reading The Betel Nut Tree Mystery book 2 in the series. I really enjoy the discussion of British and Americans in Singapore at that time. I like Su Lin a lot makes the best she can out of her life.
