SOLVED. Middle grade Fantasy book about a boy whose father goes missing without a trace, he tries to find him and finds a magical book that he tries to decipher. [s]

This is a Fantasy Book i read between the years of 2016-2018

It begins with a protagonist who is a boy, he lives with his mother, father and sister. His father goes missing without a trace and his mother doesn't seem to care about it. He goes into the basement to ask his mother (who has been acting very weird since his disappearance) about it, at the time she is painting as she is an artist, when he asks her about it she yells at him and tells him not bring it up. He then thinks he sees his father in his office and his mother is talking to him, he doesn't believe it and thinks it was a dream. It goes on and I believe he finds the magical book in an abandoned place with his sister, but decides to keep it a secret from his mother as he is afraid she will take it from him. So he hides outside in a tent or something and begins to decipher it there. He ends up taking it into his room and reads something from it and then a blue light shines from it. It then goes in and he ends up meeting a man and follows him in search of his father. He accidentally turns his sister into a hedgehog I think, and not soon after they end up in some cave fighting something. They then get on a train to visit his aunt who ends up being somewhat magical. They learn about the main antagonist's plan to go to a cave full of crystals and take the crystals before what I think was a blood moon so he can gain his powers back. When on the train the mentor explains to the boy how he needs to sort all his memories like a "filing cabinet" and shows him how to do it.

That is everything i remember from the book, I have been trying to find it for years. Please help me!
