10/10
The Mother. It is a novel by Máximo Gorki, one of the great exponents of socialist realism, published in 1907. It is inspired by the events that occurred in the Sornovo factory during the 1905 revolution. Gorki's blind belief in a true and possible revolution capable of improving the existence of man is in many of the dialogues and in the basic content of this novel. Man, he will repeat over and over again, is the only wonder on earth; all the others are the product of your imagination, intelligence and creative will. The author feels a bit identified with the novel he has written, because La Madre takes place on a background of real historical events, such as the workers' demonstration on May 1 held in Sórmovo in 1902 and the activities of the revolutionary party in said town.
Gorky in this work does not show Russian society as it was and even this work had an impact on the government of the tsars and their servants, warned against the revolutionary significance of the work, and the tsarist police confiscated the copies that had not yet reached hands of the public. The 2nd part was censored because it incited the public to carry out these revolutionary acts.
Gorki reflects very well in his work the radical change that the mother undergoes since she lived in the little house in the suburb until she proclaims herself full of majesty and greatness at the end of the work.
It is a work that shows very well the situations that its protagonists go through, their reactions and ways of being of each one.
10/10
