Completed ~
That took way longer than it should have. I've started a new job at another library, and the transition is not giving me a lot of time to read. I'll get adapted, but I'm going to take a break until I find myself with more free time. It's not fair for you guys to be waiting on me!

Hope your schedule gets easier Pat!! Good luck with the new job ;)

At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities, by Heather Webber, finished 7/28/23 ★★★★

I finished longitude 9 and posted it a few days ago, but it's not marked as done on the master list.
ETA : I see what happened - you marked Coffee Shop as done, but not Unteachables.

Liberty Falling is an interesting installment in that series - I found it kind of haunting. Enjoy!

Liberty Falling (Anna Pigeon #7), by Nevada Barr, finished 7/30/23 ★★★★

Burmese Bronze Dragon Head Cannon
Mandalay Palace, Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma)
This incredible treasure was seized as a war trophy from King Thibaw's Palace in Burma (now known as Myanmar), during the Third Anglo-Burmese War in 1885. The palace, which is now called Mandalay Palace, is where our coordinates take us to. This 18th century cannon symbolizes one of the many mythical creatures found in Burmese folklore. The Naga were serpentine dragon-like beings with great powers. They were able to swim through the earth as if it were water and fly through the air.
Cast in bronze, the dragon's head has a very ornate barrel that features a row of spines along the upper edge ending in an upright tail at the breech. There are two pairs of fixtures either side of the barrel which are believed to represent rudimentary limbs. It has not been determined whether the cannon was intended as a service piece or as an ornament. Either way, it is an impressive piece of weaponry.
After being seized, it was presented to the Prince of Wales and later gifted to the Victoria and Albert museum. Today it is part of the Royal Artillery Historical Trust collection and can be viewed at Fort Nelson, which overlooks the naval base of Portsmouth in the English county of Hampshire.

I can take Latitude 4 with The Venus Throw by Steven Saylor, Book 4 in the Roma Sub Rosa Series.
