If I remember correctly, you like Baldacci's books, right? If so, I highly recommend The Escape Artist, by Meltzer. It's the first book in his newest series and was good enough that a friend and I drove down to Maryland to hear him speak in person :)

Treasure #20
Latitude: 30.5646666293
Longitude: 114.364671780

Zenghouyi Bronze Chime Bells
Hubei Provincial Museum Wuhan, China

An amazing treasure was discovered in 1978 while excavating the tomb of Zenghouyi, or Marquis Yi, a Chinese ruler of the Zeng State during the Zhou Dynasty (1046-256 BC). Sixty-five ancient bronze bells of varying sizes were uncovered, representing both the pinnacle of early music and bronze casting techniques. The set is by far the largest, heaviest, best-preserved, and finest set of chime bells ever unearthed in China and has the most complete temperament and range among all ancient chime bells in the world.

The discovery of these 2400 year-old bells revealed a design that had been lost to history. Their unique oval shape means that each bell can produce two different tones depending on where it's struck (in the center or on the side). The whole set has a range of five octaves with a complete 12-tone scale. Ranging from 8 inches to 5 feet in height, the 65 bells hang in three tiers from an L-shaped wooden frame, with 19 bells at the top, 33 in the middle, and 12 at the bottom. The smallest bell weighs 5 pounds, the largest about 450 pounds, for a total of 2.5 tonnes. Besides being so functional musically, they are quite beautiful with interlacing serpents rising up in low relief from each the bell surface. And of particular importance, the gold inscriptions on each bell records a rich history of events, musical theories, and the pitch that each bell produces.

The bells are housed at Hubei Provincial Museum and are considered their most prized national treasure. Ancient court music is performed daily in the Chime Bells Exhibition Hall. Those in attendance are surely enchanted by the beautiful and ancient music these bells can produce.

♞ Pat Gent I'd like to take Longitude 3 with Storm Watch

It's expected publication is Feb of 2023, but I have the Net Galley advanced edition to review.

Is using a Net Galley book acceptable for this challenge? If not, I'll find something else, but I need to get this book read!
