My name is Caitlin Nikolai. I fell in love with storytelling before I could read, when it would storm and my younger brother was afraid of the thunder. I'd tell him stories to distract him, and I loved the way he'd get into my stories and demand more.
Then I learned to read and got hooked for life.
I plan to write Chrsitian travel romance, but the only book I've published so far is called "Creative in COVID." It gives creative ways to stay connected with one's community, with extended family and friends, immediately family, and how to take care of oneself during a global pandemic. So, it's kind of self-help, but it's written in a memoir style, because thie book is what my family and I did and are still doing to stay sane. (We have a young child we believe is high risk for COVID, so we are still sheltering at home. Send chocolate.)
So as weird as that genre shift is, I have the first book of a travel romance trilogy written, and 10,000+ words of the second written, but since I have young children, I want all three books ready before I publish any. On that note, I should probably go write now...
Thanks for reading, and I hope you all the best in your own reading and writing journeys! Grace and peace.
Welcome, Caitlin! I know all about genre shifts: I started with time travel romance, then historical romance, then moved to speculative fiction, so I wish you joy in shifting around!
Enjoy the process, Caitlin. I ended up in a mashup of contemporary speculative supernatural visionary... I loved the journey. The Lord taught me a lot. It sounds like you're doing well.
