This is what a book should be…

What I’m loving the most about TSOA so far is how completely TRANSFORMING it is. Every time I pick up the book I am immediately transported to Greece and sitting there right alongside Achilles and Patroclus. It makes me think of elementary school posters that said things like “Reading takes you to new places!” - like, this is EXACTLY what they are talking about.

Do you agree, and if so how do you think the author is achieving this? It’s not particularly detailed descriptions or dialogue, but I feel like I am right there!!!!

I feel like I am seeing something unfold right before my eyes. Something I really appreciate is that the book reads like a book written back when the Odyssey was written, but also updated in spots to feel modern. Also I just want to say what I would have given to have read this when I was younger.

Agreed, she's doing a great job with the tone and descriptors to make you feel like you're IN the story. For me, it's the adjectives she's been using they're so old school colorful hahaha.
