When Tracy approaches the door, Alexy Gorshkov fires a shotgun blast through the door. Did you think his wife and daughters were still alive at that moment? What did you give Tracy’s chances to diffuse the situation at that time?

Not the best way to introduce your self into the situation. I was hopeful they were still alive - but you reall don't know at that point.

I figured the wife and daughters were still alive. The neighbors didn't report shots fired before Tracy arrived.

Frankly, I didn’t know if they were alive because it was so quiet. For some reason, I thought he’d fired several shots. Maybe I’m remembering it wrong and imagined that recall.

I gave Tracy a 50-50 shot.

The optimist in me believed that his wife and children were still alive even though it was really quiet. I would think the neighbors would have said something if shots had been previously fired.

I didn't know what to think at this point. I was hoping that they were. Since Alexy was crazy there are other ways he could have killed his family. I was hoping that he didn't want a suicide by cop.
