It’s been six years since Tracy graduated from the Academy and she’s still on patrol. Is it because she’s a woman or that there are truly other more deserving applicants with more experience? Is six years normal?

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I don't know enough about law enforcement but I think 6 years is long for advancement. I feel like 'the powers that be' just wanted to have a 'few' female officers to make a show of 'being diverse'

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I don't know what the normal pace is for advancing to detective. Six years does not sound too bad to me. And Tracy didn't seem bent out of shape that someone undeserving was promoted before her.

It’s not exceptionally long but it is overdue, especially given that she’s never even been given an interview. That was unusual. I suspect they weren’t ready to make that next move and place a woman within its detective ranks.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I don't know what the normal time is but I would think especially for someone that had done well in the academy, this would be long but I agree, Jonetta. They probably wouldn't want a woman as detective as they really didn't want them in the academy in the first place.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3481 comments It is a long time for an office to not be invited to take the detective exam. I believe and officer that performs well, has good reviews, etc. can take the exam in three to four years, but it depends on the city/county policy. The fact that they haven't allowed he to even test in 6 years is off.

Did they mention anything about her performance reviews? I don't remember.

At the end when Sandy was questioning about her record.
