main character went to college and cleaned up her act, new best friend called Lila (?) and goes back to old town where she was goth/punk and a drag racer, comes across old love interest (Micah?) and there are party scenes and drag race scenes, in one the LI’s shoulder is injured by a tree i think. don’t recall any cover details. read approx 5/6 years ago. in one scene the MC and LI make out on a lawn whilst she’s wearing a purple dress. pretty sure it’s a series where best friend Lila has a romance with one of LI’s friends

Possibly? There is a character named Lila in the first book of the series. I haven't read this one, but it fits.
