Looking forward to reading another book written by Karen Hawkins. I love an author with a sense of humour.
My goodreads review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This one was a surprise. For the first half I thought it was trash (I hate books when it is just two people lusting after each other), but then it changed gears and I started to really enjoy it. It went from a potential 2 stars to at least 4 star read (I am still ruminating over this).
I am so intrigued by the MacLean clan that I have started on the first book in the series. I am 2 chapters in and it is good!!!
I particularly enjoyed the humor in this one

I agree - the curse is so cool. I have just binge read this one, then #1 and #2 and about to start #4. So many other books to read, but I just can't be bothered. I really like the humour in these.

Do you think book #2 could be skipped?

Yes, I read book 3, then book 1, 2 and 4...... Also, the main characters from book 2 don't make any major appearances in book 3.

I'm more or less in the middle of this book. It's a funny read and a very light one. To my taste I think this serie it's a too light reading. I've read the previous books and only gave them a 3 stars rating.
From the 3 books I think this one is my favourite till now, I'm enjoying Sophia and Dougal's wits a lot.

I also think, maybe in this book it's not so pronounced, but this author as a problem with the ages of the characters. I read someone's review about it and also noted that in the books the female characters are always much older than usual reality of the period, which would have no problem except it's never a problem, either for the family or for themselves. Which is weird to say the least...
They are perfectly fine spinsters, far from childbearing age in a time here the average life expectancy in England ranged from 33 to 40 years of age... so this seems a problem, at least to be discussed, when the issue is marriage.

Venetia is 34 years old, I don't remember Fiona's age but she was well over 30, but that's ok because in book 3 (view spoiler)
Leena, I think she has 27, she´s the youngest of the three

Until now I think this is my favourite of the serie. Another fun and light story. I enjoyed more the story of this couple story but the curse was less explored than in the previous books and that's a pity.

To Catch a Highlander by Karen Hawkins
Synopsis:
In this sizzling romantic adventure, a daring Highland lass plays a high-stakes game to keep the home she loves...but ends up losing her heart instead.
When her father gambles away the family estate to darkly dangerous Lord Dougal MacLean, Sophia MacFarlane is determined to use her wiles to regain it. Forced to stake the one thing she has left—her virtue—she desperately hopes her skill can limit her losses to a few kisses...no matter how hotly tempting Dougal turns out to be.
Dougal MacLean knows that Sophia has some trick up her sleeve, but he can't resist the challenge—or her ravishing beauty. So when she proposes a card game with most unusual stakes, Dougal is delighted to accept. But as the game ends, Dougal and Sophia discover they've wagered something even more precious—their hearts.
