It seemed very harsh taking them away from their relatives. I haven't got any experience in this (thank goodness). Is this what happens?
Well, Ellie and Nan weren't relatives - that's why they were taken away. I don't really know anything about Child Protective Services. I'm sure they have protocols they have to follow. I could see how this would totally suck if something like this happened (I'm sure it has) where it's a Friday night and you can't get anything done til Monday. It's not as if the lady couldn't see that Carson was comfortable with Ellie, Nan and Julia.
Oh that’s right. The first contact was before Grant got there. I guess Carson being comfortable with the neighbours wouldn’t be legally enough for child protection. Maybe if it was Grant or Hannah the situation may have been different being relatives.,

May..."I agree with Lisa that if there had been family members available, the kids would have been allowed to stay with them. CPS has to think of the welfare of the kids first. For all they know, the neighbors could have been involved with the murder since they know nothing about them. Their first obligation is to make sure the kids are safe.
