It's pretty chilling being right there with the victim hearing there last thoughts and insecurities as they are about to be murdered. It being Lee's POV it makes me think that something he has done has started a chain of events which has resulted in the murders.
The beginning of the story definitely sucked me in. It makes you wonder what has been going on in their marriage lately. Then the discussion in Lee's head of a case he has taken and then the murder. Along with the description from Lee of the killer shapes the readers thoughts as you go forward through the book and meet the rest of the characaters.
I agree with both Lisa and Melissa, there is a mystery regarding their marriage, but their deaths are caused by something that has to do with the controversial case that Lee has taken. Lee's POV is important because Kate doesn't know anything about this case.
