Shenali here, I am from North India and now settled in Sydney. I am an IT professional and like to read in my spare time. I mostly read classic books. I am currently in love with classics, especially from Victorian period. I love Dickens(one of my earliest experience with literature, Oliver Twist), George Eliot, Austen, Thomas Hardy, Leo Tolstoy, Camus and Dostoevsky. I am yet to explore more books and authors but these are the few people i admire the most right now. I also read some non fiction here and there, mostly psychology, politics and films. Anna Karenina is my most beloved book right now. Its a powerful work. Mill On The Floss by George Eliot and Tess Of The D'urbervilles by Thomas Hardy are few more which i really love.
I am currently reading Tom Jones, its a lengthy book but seems lot of fun, and i am really enjoying it so far.

I'm Shailendra. I live and work in Bangalore. I am a big fan of JD Salinger and have read all of his books. Catcher in the Rye is a favorite. Recently, more into non fiction and existential philosophy. Used to read a lot back in the day but not anymore due to short attention span but i try.
I'm also a movie buff and kind of outgrown feature films and now only watch documentaries.

Hope to connect with everyone here!

I read fiction, non fiction 50/50. I detest boring books, and give about 30 pages for a book to hold my interest. If it does not, I discard it. I think I can read a max of 4000 books in my life. There are a million books and more than 4k of them are very good. So, no point in wasting time reading things that are boring.
I am open to good books (or arguments) on the side I agree with or on the side that I disagree with (atleast I carry that delusion :D ).
It is great to see a lot of enthusiasm among the fine people introducing themselves here. Glad to be in this group.

This is Anjana, from Kerala.
I was an avid reader in my childhood, then somewhere along the way I just lost that habit.
But I've rekindled my love for books, during the pandemic. And there's been no looking back since then.
My favorite genre has always been mystery and thrillers, recently hooked on Japanese mystery novels. Also love reading historical fictions, and memoirs.
I post reviews and random thoughts on instagram, that's just my creative outlet these days.
Thanks a lot for adding me here. Hoping to have more bookish conversations with you all.

My interests are varied to the point of distraction. I am a watercolor hobbyist, dabbled in art criticism, and exhibited a few landscapes. I love gardening (rooftop) and like to automate my life. I love everything related to the internet.
l have been an avid reader since my college days. I read all the genres in English and my native language, Kannada. Nowadays I prefer reading the e-edition to the harder variety.
Happy to be in this group. Hope to enrich me with the experience of other group members.

I love reading fiction. My favourite genre is romance, mysteries & thrillers. I do read non-fictions sometimes too. I read Bengali & English books. I've many favourite authors so, naming a few would be a tough job.
I read almost everyday. Reading before sleeping after a busy day is like a ritual to me.
Hope to meet some fellow bookworms here.

Bangalorean at heart, currently living in Singapore with a full time job and a startup to run. Still manage to find time everyday to read a bit, avid reader. Mix of fiction and non-fiction.. usually in a 5:1 ratio.
Favourite fiction genre is epic fantasy, I have read almost all the major authors over there and strongly recommend Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson for anyone who is into it.. if you are new to the genre, then recommend starting with Joe Abercrombie. I do read a lot of classics, and thrillers. Fredryck Forsyth and Micheal Connelly come to mind
Non-fiction topics are usually around politics, economics and a few business books. I do love a bit of history occasionally, especially ones that are not just a narration of major events but personalised stories of people.
Always looks for new book recommendations and experimenting new genres.
I don’t write long reviews on Goodreads, but if you need a review of any of the books from my list, do hit me up and will be glad to oblige 😊

It's been 3 years since I started my Bookstagram. "_silkreads".
So this is the story of how my Grandfather made me fall in love with books. A bibliophile he was. We also had a house filled with books, and I was encouraged to read as much as I’d like.....!! Now I’m slowly trying to learn how to have a color theme my Instagram page if not a single style theme. My favorite genre is mostly Young adults, classical and Children books. I'm not sure I'm reading self-help book it's outside my comfort.
Hope to meet some amazing Bookstagramer here

I've been reading books under the covers since I was a kid. In fact, one major expense in my life is buying books - finding rare books. I started with Fiction, like any kid does, in recent years, I've shifted my focus to non-fiction. I like reading about the most profound, confounding, spiritual things, but also, on the other hand, the most mundane, funny, stupid stuff. The paradox helps me reconcile the profound with the mundane in my life.

I used to be an avid reader during my school days. So addicted that my mom used to threaten me that she will burn my school library books. Became a lifelong nightowl because of my late night reading habit. After 10th standard I stopped reading books on a regular basis. I used to read very sporadically here and there, 2 or 3 books in a year. That's all. I was more hooked to social media, movies, TV series, blogs, Wikipedia etc those days. But it all changed in June 2019 when I went to my dad's office library once. I was hooked to books once again after 12 long years!
I read books 3 hours a day. I am a slow reader and I don't feel the need to compete with other bookworms on number of books read in a year. I take my own sweet time. My most favourite genres are Sci-fi (anything not involving space, robots and the far future), medical/forensic thrillers, theological fiction/non fiction. Sci-fi, I prefer books like Jurassic Park, Micro, Relic, Reliquary etc. By theological fiction I don't mean mythological books but rather books by Dan Brown, Umberto Eco, Steve Berry, Ki Longfellow, Ashwin Sanghi and the likes and also books like Gora, Aavarana, Delhi : A Novel, 40 rules of Love which have a religious theme albeit without a conspiracy or sensationalist angle. My favourite authors are Robin Cook, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child team, John Grisham, Rabindranath Tagore, Michael Crichton.

Poushali here - avid reader bookworm since I could read.
The first book I remember having read was an abridged version of Great Expectations and never looked back.
I have a tiny bookstagram account called whatposhreads - please stop by and say hello!
I recently read 100 books in 2021.

First of all, Thank you Dr. Aditi for inviting me to join this group.

Vignesh here. Excited to join a bookish group from India.
I mostly read Fantasy and Scifi books especially on the Dark and Grim dark sub-genre. I am writing my first Fantasy book too (Hoping to release in first half of 2022).
Fan of Malazan, Sanderson and avid reader of Indie Authors.

I love reading. My favorite genres change every few years. Currently, I love reading non-fiction (especially Pulitzer nominees/winners), contrarian viewpoints (Dostoevsky and Ayn Rand are my all-time favorite authors), some feel-good fiction (Fredrik Backman, Amor Towles, etc.). I have also developed a newfound love for business biographies and Russian literature.
Thanks, Dr. Aditi for the invitation.
Excited to join this group. :)

I pretty much read anything I get my hands on, starting from good old ACK comics. A bit biased to mysteries, cloak-and-dagger and history of science.
Right now dividing time between the works of Sanjeev Sanyal and JBP.
Until later...
