Oh my gosh same. I was unexpectedly crushed with coursework in the first week of my classes. I'll try to read up Chapter 10 tonight. I'll still be behind but I hope to be caught up by Sunday. I am pumped to get into this universe because I wanted to read the SoC duology and I heard this is necessary to read first.
Also sorry for the really late comment. I thought I had this set to notify me to the discussion but I guess not!
So sorry for falling off here! Classes and work have been taking more outta me than I expected and I haven't even gotten to start :/
I felt bad for not starting it either. Class and everything else really dominated my life. Unless I have the audio or ebook for book I've had to put them off. I'm gonna try to read this on Saturday but I don't know how much time I'll have as I have Spanish homework that is due.
I did finally start this weekend but only through ch 8. This is my first every semester of college and it's been a reality check lol
I remember my first semester of college. It was not pretty and it shocked me with the amount of work. To be fair I'm 3 semesters in and it still is a fair bit of work. I am at similar place only 7 chapters in to this one. I had an essay that escaped my mind and honestly I haven't really fallen in love with the narrative so I have been opting for other books. How are you liking it so far?
My brain is obviously all over the place.. I don't remember if I said this when we first talked about BR'ing this, but it is a re-read for me. Been a few years and I've forgotten so much >.< I will say, my first read I rated it only 3 stars so must not have ever fallen in love with the narrative either! I just want to revisit this trilogy before moving on to SoC and watching the series.
Getting to SoC is why I am here! That is a book that everyone has so much love for that I just wanna try it. I feel like if I had read this when I was 14 like the rest of my HS friends that I would have loved it but having read as much fantasy (YA & adult) this feels kinda flat. This was published in 2012 and I feel like a lot of the plot has become a fairly common trope in YA now. Not that it wasn't super original when it was published. It's not really the books fault but my timing for reading it.
That makes sense.. didn't age well. Really hoping I love SoC as much as everyone else and that it doesn't fall flat too.
