Entertaining cozy. 3 stars

I read Black Orchid Girls by Carolyn Arnold I rate it 3.5 stars rounded up. It is a suspenseful police procedural. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Pandora's Lab: Seven Stories of Science Gone Wrong

Now starting SIGHT UNSEEN by Robert Goddard, a mystery/thriller published back in 2005.I read three of his other stand-alone novels last year and enjoyed them so much I picked up hardcover first editions for my permanent library. We will see if this current novel follows that same trend.
I have missed Mick Herron's spies, the Slow Horses. These two novellas slot neatly into his much-loved Slough House series but can be enjoyed together without reading the rest. The List is #2.5 and shows John Bachelor doing 'the milk run', babysitting the elderly, retired spooks. Tricky!
4.5★ My review of The ListThe Drop is #5.5 and follows the action from The List. Old-school tricks are recognised by old-school spooks!
4.5★ My review of The DropThese are also available as a single book.
The Drop & The List

I absolutely love his books.
I absolutely love his books.

I love Herron's Slough House series as well. I will have to try and track down those two novellas.
Another one of Herron's books that overlaps with his Slough House series is NOBODY WALKS. If you haven't read that one I highly recommend that you track it down.
Another review of A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham
I'm not the only one who read this book recently ;-)
Very well written but not a very original story. Here is my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Caul Baby
by Morgan JerkinsA family of black, caul-bearing women in Harlem make money by selling pieces of their skin, which has healing/regenerative properties.
Good story with elements of magical realism. 3.5 stars

I recently donated to a GoFundMe fundraiser by Nirvana Comics in Nashville to put copies of Maus into the hands of any student who would like a copy, along with a guide for parents. How anyone could find that book banworthy is beyond me. I'm loving the response: their initial goal was $20,000 and they've currently raised over $105,000.

I’m a huge fan of Robert Goddard & not sure why I’ve missed reading “Sight Unseen”. I’ll have to grab that & read it-sounds great! Goddard’s In pale Battalions is in my top 3 books all time. Also loved Into the Blue.
Finished The Heavens May Fall
by Allen Eskens. Love books set in Minnesota, and this guy can write!https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read a short story Vital Links I enjoyed it and rate it 4 stars. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I also loved IN PALE BATTALIONS and enjoyed the fantastic, twisty plot. The other Goddard novels I have read include BEYOND RECALL and LONG TIME COMING. I am currently hunting for two of his other stand alone novels at my local bookstores.

Mind bender with plenty of dry humor. My full review:

I read Malicious Intent by Lynn H. Blackburn when I requested it from LibraryThing, i asked for it because it looked like an interesting mystery/thriller. But it turned out to be a romantic suspense thriller. My 3 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

A flicker in the dark by Stacy WillinghamStacy Willingham. What a book. Here's my 5 star review
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I enjoyed Aussie author Kerry Greenwood's glamorous and fearless (almost) Phryne Fisher flying her Gipsy Moth over the Australian Alps in the 1930s in The Green Mill Murder, #5 in this entertaining series.
3.5~4★ Link to my Green Mill Murder review
I'm really enjoying this historical mystery series by C.S. Harris, set in London in the early 1800s with England and France at war (again? still? always?). In Why Mermaids Sing, Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Lord Devlin, is investigating a murder, and then another, and then . . .
4.5★ Link to my review of Why Mermaids Sing
The Five Bells and Bladebone
by Martha GrimesRichard Jury #9. A body is found in a folding desk and Inspector Jury is on the case. Very unusual entry in the series -- usually these have a good bit of humor; this has almost none, and less of Plant than usual. All in all, a great entry in the series except for the giant coincidence which is the basis for the story but unstated by the usually perceptive Jury. No spoilers here. 4 stars.
Just finished Protect and Defend by Vince Flynn (4 stars)https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Starting The Disappeared by M.R. Hall
I needed something else in between thrillers, and I found it in My Heart Went Walking by Sally Hanan
Here's my 5 star review for this uplifting book: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Peril at End House
by Agatha ChristieHercule Poirot #8, OK to read as a stand-alone. It appears as though someone is trying to kill lovely Nick Buckley, something Poirot cannot permit. Fine example of Christie's 30's mysteries.
The Afghanistan Papers: A Secret History of the War by Craig Whitlock - my first 5☆ this year. Get a look inside the room where it happened. My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4526675440
