I LOVE that series! Every single book was awesome, in my humble opinion. I binge-listened to it one book directly after the other.

Finished reading From the Abyss: Weird Fiction, 1907-1945 by DK Broster, with stories spanning the period from the 1900s to the early 1940s. I was given a copy by the good people at Handheld Press, who published this book along with many other really good ones.
Reading and very much enjoying Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosley, so I foresee many of his books landing on my shelves in the near future. So good!!

The Job
by Janet Evanovich & Lee GoldbergFox and O'Hare #3. Light fun mystery/adventure. There's a plot hole every other page but hey, whatever. Perfect for the pool. 3 stars.
Outside Looking In by Michael Wood ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished Fox Creek
A strong addition to the Cork O’Connor series. My four star review:

eagerly waiting for that one to go down in price
Now starting THE AXEMAN (originally published in 2014 as THE AXEMAN’s JAZZ) by Ray Celestin. This is the first book in his City Blues Quartet and it was nominated for both the 2014 New Blood Dagger Award and the ITW Thriller Award for Best First Novel. The storyline revolves around The Axeman, a real-life serial killer who was never caught or identified, who terrorized the city of New Orleans back in 1919.
I'm really enjoying it so far, so it looks like I will be trying to hunt down the next three books in the quartet.
The Lost Children by Michael Wood ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...

I read Disco For The Departed by Colin Cotterill It is book 3 in the Dr. Siri Paiboun series. Dr. Paiboun is the chief Medical Examiner in Laos. The book has quirky characters and contact with the spirit world. I enjoyed it and rated it 4 stars. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Chinese-born Qian Julie Wang was only five when she was warned she had to behave, be quiet and blend in - or they'd be deported. As she writes in Beautiful Country: A Memoir, it was hard for her to understand why her professor parents became menial workers.
3.5★ My review of Beautiful Country
I read Has Anyone Seen My Toes? by Christopher Buckley I have read 3 previous books by this author and enjoyed them. But this book did not work for me. The humor fell flat. My 2 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Second Biggest Nothing
by Colin CotterillDr. Siri #14, probably best to read series in order. In this one it seems someone is out to kill Dr.Siri. I'm a fan of the series and this entry is one of the best. 4 stars, highly recommended.
Five stars for Desolation Mountain
This is a great series, but this one stood a little above the others. My review:

The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter. Enjoyable read, although the style takes some getting used to.

I enjoyed the trilogy, though the 2nd one is a bit longer than maybe it should have been. Not a classic, I think, but entertaining. I especially liked the back and forth between the women.

I’m a sucker for a well done police procedural and What She Found certainly fits the bill.

I finished the book that inspired the film classic:
Anatomy of a Murder by Robert Traver
Rating: 2 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and I started reading a short story collection by the late great William Gay which is not specifically a mystery or crime book although many of Gay's stories do involve characters who stray outside the law:
I Hate to See That Evening Sun Go Down: Collected Stories by William Gay
The Rising Tide is a strong addition to the Vera Stanhope series.

I always enjoy the investigative exploits of the self-made computer-nerd 'family' known as the Monkeewrench crew.
Off the Grid
by P.J. Tracy has Native Americans, terrorists, and kidnappers. Loved it!
4.5★ My review of Off the Grid
Razorblade Tears by S.A. Cosby. Braindead action movie that preaches tolerance in corny, condescending ways. 2/5

"South Florida" and "wacky" definitely go together.
My husband really likes Tim Dorsey's Serge Storms crime novels, also set in Florida.

Unfortunately, I may have to delay the reading -- as happens often here, I put the book down & can't find it anywhere now.

That was fun. At the time, it was exactly what I needed readingwise.

An Artist's Eyes
by Frances Tosdevin shows, through Clémence Monnet's beautifully clever illustrations, that all artists (and we) see things differently. Gorgeous!
4.5~5★ My review with illustrations
#Rejected Goddesses by Natalie Watson ⭐⭐.5 https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Taste for Poison: Eleven Deadly Molecules and the Killers Who Used Them.Neil Bradbury wrote an interesting blend of hard science and accounts of poisoners from the 19th through 21st centuries and sprinkled them with allusions to writers such as Agatha Christie. I got a kick out of reading about the assassinations of Soviet defectors as I could see their influence on one my favorite espionage novelist's stories.
