I read a biography of a courageous US Marine Valor: The Astonishing World War II Saga of One Man's Defiance and Indomitable Spirit by Dan HamptonI highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading stories of courage in the face of overwhelming adversity.
My review, 4.5 stars, rounded up https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I listened to No One Goes Alone
I love Larson’s nonfiction, but this was just meh. My three star review:

Silesian Station
is an entertaining-but-flawed follow-up to a well-crafted and engaging series debut. Its overstuffed plot suffers from not having a clear throughline, though the individual strands can be effective in isolation. I'm disappointed; I wanted to like this more than I did. The normal-guy protagonist is still easy to relate to and makes the story still worth the effort. But I hope that book #3 will be a better read so the series can live up to its potential. Three transfers on the Strassenbahn.Read the full review here.
I finished my 45th novel this morning. Among the new publications from 2020 and 2021 there was barely anything worth reading, so for a lack of good new crime novels, I simply reread my own books again like Mary Higgins Clark, Michael Allegretto and Joy Fielding.
The Darkest Place
by Phillip MargolinDefense attorney Robin Lockwood defends a woman accused of assault, child abuse and other crimes.
Good courtroom scenes. 3 stars

Finished the exciting opener of the Joe Pickett series (2001) Open Season by C.J. Box. Loved the setting & the M.C. The series will definitely be added to my reading rotation list!
Out by Natsuo Kirino is an award-winning and unconventional mystery novel. The story is set in Tokyo in the late 1990s.My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4608196408
The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudesley is an entertaining debut by Sean Lusk which has some history, some mystery, some magic, and exotic locales (think sultan and harem!) so I can see a real fan base for this when it comes out in June.
3.5★ My review of Second Sight of Zachary...
I enjoyed Viet Thanh Nguyen's 2016 Pulitzer Prize winner, The Sympathizer, but the political and philosophical arguments got the better of me in his follow-up, The Committed. He's an excellent, smart writer - and funny (a Chinese guy called Le Cao Boi wishes he were American).

The Sympathizer was so good that I just don't think the sequel could measure up.

The Heist
by Janet Evanovich & Lee GoldbergFemale super-FBI agent Kate O'Hare and super-con man Nick Fox team up to catch Bernie Madoff by another name. Light, fun, over-the-top mystery-adventure and the first in a series. Good fun, I liked it a lot,
I just finished The Sorority Murder
Somewhat predictable but entertaining. My 3 1/2 star review:

Zeba Blay's Carefree Black Girls: A Celebration of Black Women in Popular Culture is a passionate protest, full of examples, about the global culture of "colorism" and how the darkness of your skin decides your worth and opportunities. She knows her stuff!

I keep meaning to read The Neon Rain but it's always pushed aside for something else. I need to just do it.
I finished The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith today. Going to be reading Delirium by Lauren Oliver soon.

I'm at 24, but 4 (and part of another) I've finished while on vacation for 12 days. It will slow down again starting tomorrow when we get home. I never really realized how full my home days are until now when I've had pretty much unlimited reading time.

Apeirogon, by award-winning Irish writer Colum McCann, is the remarkable and moving true story of two fathers, former enemies, working for peace. One is Israeli, one Palestinian. Both lost young daughters in the conflict. It is unbelievably beautifully done.

and
Seven Graves One Winter by Christoffer Petersen set in Greenland. A slow start and I wasn't sure I'd enjoy the book, but i did by the end
