2022 Pick-It-For-Me Relay

For you I choose Murder On The Orient Express. I noticed you have a lot of Agatha Christie in your list, I read this one earlier in the year and found it to be an interesting, fun and quick read. I hope you like it as well!!!!! (It was hard to narrow it down to one choice, you’ve got lots of great books in your list).
Whomever chooses for me- I made a shorter ‘pick for me’ list so you don’t have to sort through them all if your inmate any to. But ANYTHING in my too be read is fair game 😊

Black Sun (Between Earth and Sky, #1) by Rebecca Roanhorse
I haven't read it yet, but it was recommended by a couple people and I have it on my TBR Rec list. I'd love to know how you liked it once you've read it."
Well it has been a bit since I've hopped on this thread. I was in a very "mood read" phase and was being picky with what I read haha. I'm now ready to come back and get a suggestion :) Before I do, I want to follow up on

Lindsay - for your next pick, I choose

For my next pick, please choose from the following shelf:

I just finished Matilda by Roald Dahl and really enjoyed it. I had seen the movie before, but hadn't read the book until now. I actually listened to the audiobook with my two teenage sons and they rated it 4.5 stars = )
Samantha, for you I pick Flowers for Algernon I recently re-read this book as an adult, I had read it before in high school years. It is a really good read.
For my next read please choose from my Paperback Bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Lindsay wrote: "I’m a little confused, was there a book picked for me?"
Yes, check message 153 above, from Samantha. She chose House of Earth and Blood for you.

Hey, superawesomekt, I pick This Tender Land for you.
For my first book, please choose from:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Marla, it seems our tastes are so different that there's not much on your list that I actually know. So I decided to go for the one that's been waiting for you the longest: Touching Evil.
For my next pick anything from my Want to Read list goes, with a slight preference for no fantasy or SF if you want to narrow down the choice.

Okay, no fantasy or science fiction. Well, A Study in Scarlet is my suggestion. It's never to late to start with Sherlock Holmes. It may not be the best one, but it must be read to be believed.

Estefania, I think you're looking for another read? If so, I recommend The Midwich Cuckoos. A little old-fashioned SF never hurts. And I have enjoyed others by Wyndham.
Next person please pick for me from my sony or android shelf, my ebooks: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list.... It'd be super helpful if you could pick a book that has between 100 and 200 pages.
To Cheryl struggles to catch up... LOVE the name.
In the spirit of the book club, picking a seemingly popular one that is also on my list so curious how you like it...
The Stranger by Albert Camus
For the person choosing for me...
My to-read shelf is linked here
Would appreciate a recommendation under 400 pages please =)
THANK YOU

Thank you superawesomekt for picking The Glass Castle for me, it was a good read. I had to keep reminding myself that it was a memoir because at points in the story it almost felt like it was fiction.
Kaseadillla, for you I pick The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. I read this book recently and it was a quick read for me, because I just had to know what was happening next!
For my next read please pick from my Paperback Bookshelf:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

For you, JoJo, I pick Beloved. It’s an easy read. It’s nuanced and beautiful, and it’s a page turner. 5 stars.
Anything off of my To Read list works for me—
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Mariah: I recommend Planetfall. I've read it twice. And I've read the sequels, but I didn't find them as appealing. (Nor are they necessary at all; they're more like 'companion' novels.)

For you Cheryl, I pick The Scarlet Pimpernel
I have not read this book, but it seems to get nominated quite often as a classic pick for monthly voting. So I'm hoping it will be a good choice for your next read.
I am ready for my next read now, please if the next bookish friend could pick from my Paperback bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

For you I choose The Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes. I love reading books about books and book lovers and enjoyed this one a lot.
Whomever chooses, for me- feel free to choose anything from my ‘want to read’ shelf, there is also a shorter ‘pick for me’ list and an ‘own this but have not read’ list that I’d love to work my way through.
Thanks in advance!!!!!

Lindsay! It was hard to pick, you own a few classics I've read and loved, but I opted for something more unexpected and fun. For you I choose Oryx and Crake. The whole series is great. A bit strange and unexpected, in a good way.
Thanks for choosing Planetfall for me, Cheryl. It was entertaining and I've been on a science fiction kick, so it fit right in.
For my next read, please choose from my "books I own" list, but I'm not sure if it shows you the ones I haven't read? If it doesn't, anything from my Want to Read is fine. Thank you!

Mariah, I recommend The Poisonwood Bible. I put it off for a long time as I was intimidated by the size, but I still gave it five stars.
Next person, please choose a book that's between 100 and 200 pages (in other words, not too long or too short!) from my "sony or android" shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Cheryl, I'm picking Roast Beef Medium: The Business Adventures of Emma McChesney for you. I like Ferber.
To whomever, please pick from my Very Next Up Shelf.

Jennifer, for you I pick Finding Dorothy by Elizabeth Letts.
I listened to this story on audio and it was a book club selection for me. It was a good story and I hope you'll enjoy it.
To the next bookish friend, please pick from my Paperback Bookshelf:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

JoJo the DoDo, have you really not read Jane Eyre yet? Tsk. 'Course, I didn't until I was in my late forties, so I shouldn't scold. Anyway, when I finally did, I gave it four stars. I hope you like it.
Next person please pick for me from my sony or android shelf, my ebooks: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list.... Please pick a book that has between 100 and 200 pages! It's a challenge for me to read ebooks (that's how my list got so long!)

I have had both of these classics on my TBR for quite a long time and I loved them both!
I know you said you wanted a shorter book, but I saw a book on your list that is one I loved and gave 5 stars. So I have to recommend to you: The One-in-a-Million Boy by Monica Wood. This was a book that was recommended to me and I hope you'll enjoy it!
For my next read, please pick from my Paperback Bookshelf:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Thank you Cheryl for choosing this very interesting and very unique book for me. Unfortunately life came in the way and it took me ages to pick it up and to finally start reading it. In the end I must say that it might not have been my all-time favorite book but it was a very unique writing style and a moving story. I could find myself and my thoughts in the story every now and then - even though I might not agree with all feminist thoughts shared by the character. Overall, definitely a very good read. Thank you for finally making me read it!
@JoJo_theDoDo: As Homegoing is one of my favorite reads of the year and as I would recommend it anytime, I decided to choose it as your next read. I hope you'll enjoy it.
Please choose a book from my ‚Bookcase_unread‘ shelf.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Thank you!

For Lena I pick Carmilla. I like to being the spooky season a month early. It along with Polidori's The Vampyre crawled so Dracula could run.

For Estefania, I choose Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It's a little spooky which is perfect for October.

Pixiegirl105, I pick for you Project Hail Mary. Those of us who were disappointed by Artemis after loving The Martian enjoyed this more mature adventure.
Next person please pick for me from my sony or android shelf, my ebooks: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list.... Please pick a book that has between 100 and 150 pages! It's a challenge for me to read ebooks (that's how my list got so long!)

HI Cheryl!
For you I chose The Stranger Who Lived in a Merry-Go-Round by Ruth Silvestre
It was on your Sony/Android shelf, has 105 pages (as you requested), and sounds like an interesting read. Enjoy!
For my next read, please choose from my 'Ready To Be Read' shelf : https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Thanks!

HI Cheryl!
For you I chose [book:The Stranger ..."
Thank you Lena for picking Homegoing for me. It was a great multi-generational story.
Tony, since we're going into October and spooky season I figured why not read some Stephen King. So, I picked Billy Summers for you from your list.
For my next read please choose from me Paperback Bookshelf:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

DoDo, it's the witchiest time of the year, so you might enjoy Howl’s Moving Castle.

Estefania, assuming you want anything from your to-read shelf, I suggest I, Robot. Some critics might say it's dated, but I say Asimov's robot stories are classics and still relevant, especially, to questions of what it means to be human.
Next person please pick for me from my sony or android shelf, my ebooks: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list.... Please pick a book that has between 100 and 150 pages! It's a challenge for me to read ebooks (that's how my list got so long!)

I'll go easy on you and choose Jutta Bauer. But not so easy. :-) I'll choose two, as they're very short.

Selma

The Queen of Colors
These are children's books, but just great, especially Selma.
Next friend, please choose short stories under 150 pages from my combined contos / to read shelf here:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Thank you for the pick Estefania. It may not be my favorite classic ever but it was definitely a great start into the spooky Halloween season!
For you, Marcos, I chose The Skeleton's Holiday because it sounds like a great October read. I hope you'll enjoy it.
For my next pick, please choose a book from my ‚Bookcase_unread‘ shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Thank you!

Lena, as it happens I currently have The Sun and Her Flowers checked out from my library. So, I'm recommending it to you!
Again, I ask:
Next person please pick for me from my sony or android shelf, my ebooks: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list.... Please pick a book that has between 100 and 150 pages! It's a challenge for me to read ebooks (that's how my list got so long!)

Thank you Estefania. It's not the best thing I ever read but I did enjoy it, so I will be visiting Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson again.
Cheryl, for you I chose Marta Oulie. I did struggle to find a book with your page requirements that was not a children's tale, but this sounded interesting, although probably not the quick read you were hoping for.
For my next read, anything from my 'Want to read' goes.

Next person, please pick from my "Up Next" Shelf:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Thank you for the pick Cheryl. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I hoped it'd be but I kind feared that this would happen before starting to read. Nevertheless, I found a few poems within the collection that I likes very much and also related to - so it was still worth reading :)
superawesomekt, for you I picked As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow. I haven't read it myself but I've heard a lot of good things about it and hope you'll enjoy it.
For my next pick, please choose a book from my 'bookcase_unread list: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list... Thank you!

For you I pick: A Court of Thorns and Roses. I hope you enjoy it!!
Whomever chooses for me, please choose from either my shorter list of ‘pick for me’ or the ‘own this but have not read yet’ list.
Thanks and happy reading!
Lindsay

Totally up to you! Just thought I'd point that out :)

Totally..."
I actually thought doing that and get the extra points ;) But thank you for also letting me know. And good luck for the challenge!

Lena, I enjoyed As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow and would definitely recommend it to others, though it is set in conflict-torn Syria, so sensitive readers would need to keep that in mind (i.e. lots of death and trauma). That being said, I didn't think any of the more difficult content was very graphic / gratuitous and there were definitely threads of hope woven throughout (a must for me). I would say it's appropriate for young teenagers + and it reads a bit like young adult fiction (maybe it is?). Anyway, if you are interested in Syrian refugees, it's very accessible historical fiction. Thanks for the pick!
