Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I considered All the Lonely People and The Sentence but I think I'll pass today's offerings. Maybe there will be something tomorrow or the next day.

I really need to check the library more frequently. It's available from mine too.

I do like owning them though because I always check my audible and chirp shelves first when I am gophering so sometimes there are books that I passed on because the library had them, but then I just forget about them. At least I revisit my owned books more often.
Today I chose these 2 from the audible sale
Tales from Earthsea and
The Soil Will Save Us: How Scientists, Farmers, and Foodies Are Healing the Soil to Save the Planet

message 158: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments That's a good point, Katrisa. I keep a spreadsheet with my books and the date I purchased them along with other info that I can use when gophering for challenges. There's always a reminder that they are waiting to be read.

Saar The Book owl | 2652 comments I bought way too many books yesterday and today, but I've given myself the excuse that it's an early birthday gift for myself. I couldn't wait until 3 weeks later. I bought:
Endless Winter on Kindle
The complete series of 'Warrior Cats: the Broken Code' and The Shadow of the Gods on The Book Depository

And then I've ordered the next 2 parts of the manga series Silverspoon.

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments Today's sale offerings had more appeal to me. While I had more in my cart, I ended up with two:

The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires
Hook, Line and Blinker

message 161: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 4482 comments I went a bit overboard with today's audible sale because for $3 a book I was like - might as well!
Also today was the last day of the school year that almost broke me and has ushered in an existential crisis for me wherein I wonder if I can even do this anymore - soooo BOOKS!!!! Congrats to me for surviving the year and I plan on appreciating every damn second of my summer break!
The Secret History of Food: Strange but True Stories About the Origins of Everything We Eat
When the Reckoning Comes
The Stranger in the Lifeboat
A Sand County Almanac and Sketches Here and There
Tales from the Folly: A Rivers of London Short Story Collection
Infinite Country
This Will All Be Over Soon: A Memoir
The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows
Full Tilt
Letters From An Astrophysicist
Wabi Sabi: Japanese Wisdom for a Perfectly Imperfect Life

Kristie | 19230 comments Congrats on surviving another school year, Katrisa! It certainly has become a challenging career. Nice book haul!

I almost grabbed The Secret History of Food, but ended up taking it out of my cart. Instead, I got:
The Quintland Sisters
There's a Word for That
Bailey's Story

message 163: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments Looks like you found lots of good summer reading material, Katrisa.

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I got today's Daily Deal from Audible The Raven Spell. I almost got the Kindle back in January when it was offered in the Prime Amazon First Read program. So, I was pleased to see it come up as the Audible Daily Deal.

I also used a credit and got A Good Day for Chardonnay. I'm looking forward to it. I have it slated for this month. It will fill a road trip task.

message 168: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I picked up a couple of books in the latest 2/1 credit sale:

Stone Cross
The Black Hand

message 169: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I bought the Kindle edition of Healing the Broken Brain. I've been meaning to buy this book for over a week, but the price put me off. I hate paying more than $10 for a kindle book. But I decided to quit procrastinating. It was $13.99 for the kindle and $17.99 for the paperback. I might start reading it tonight.

message 170: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I used 2 credits to earn a $5 coupon in Audible's sale that ends today:

Elektra
Farilane

message 171: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19230 comments I'm doing the same, Janice. I have one in my cart and I'm trying to decide on a second.

message 172: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I ended up buying 3 extra credits because I used them all up and my membership renews next month. Now I'm in danger of running out before July. LOL

message 173: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19230 comments haha I was thinking about doing that. I have 3 left and renew next month as well. Six credits would get me the $20. But, I think I'm just going to spend 2 and keep one that will hopefully last me until I renew.

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I've got one in my shopping cart from the sale that started today. I will continue reviewing a little later. I like these $5 sales for filling out series.

I've got some of her books in a couple of series. What is the Frankenstein series?

message 179: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 4482 comments It's Dean Koontz. The first book is Prodigal Son. I have read the first three.

Katrisa | 4482 comments I think my favorite Anne Frasier books were the Elise Sandburg series. The first one is Play Dead

message 181: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I bought 2 books in the sale that ends today, so will earn a $7 coupon. Not bad. I spent $10 and will get a $7 coupon.

Bloody Acquisitions
Three Mages and a Margarita

My sister commented the other day that I sure have a lot of series books. I've just added two more.

I'll have to check that one out. The only books I'v read by her so far are the first two in the Inland Empire series. I really enjoyed those, so thought I'd give the Jude Fontaine series a try too.

The only one I don't have yet is book 2. I keep waiting to grab them all in the sales.

I've got 3 of the June Fontaine books on Kindle. I think I will do the Whispersync deal with them when I get the coupon. They are $1.99 each on the whispersync rate.

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments Today is the day Amazon offers their "First Reads" for July. This month, they offered two free books so I got She's Up to No Good and Embers on the Wind.

I also grabbed today's sync offerings: We Were Kings and Truly Devious. Good options today!

I haven't been bothering with this year's SYNC offerings because none of them have been appealing. I will check this week's offeings out.

I agree. I have been uninterested in most of the titles, but this week looks good.

I was really happy to see that one offered, Katrisa. I think it was something you said in one of the threads that got me interested in it.

I almost bought We Were Kings from a recent Audible sale, so I was really glad to see that one offered as well.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I purchased the fifth Wrexford and Sloane book, Murder at the Royal Botanic Gardens from Audible. I had purchased the first four books, so I figured - why not?

Katrisa | 4482 comments Kristie wrote: "I almost bought We Were Kings from a recent Audible sale, so I was really glad to see that one offered as well...."

I bought that one the other day from Audible when it was on sale so I ended up already owning both the Sync books for this week.

I wasn't super impressed with the 2-for-1 sale on Audible this time, but I did find a couple books that belong to series I want or am already collecting so I did end up choosing 2
Clockwork Lives
A Man Rides Through

message 200: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60019 comments I picked up We Were Kings from SYNC, but not Truly Devious. I don't like Kate Rudd's narration and I have enough books to read - free or not.

Having said I have enough books, I got 2 in Audible's 2-1 sale
The Other Side of Midnight
Along the Infinite Sea. I haven't read the 2 previous books in this series, but it appears they are all standalones - featuring each sister separately.
