I finished The King, and that's it for this series for me. It finished on a nice arc. There are a few loose ends, but none that make me want to pick up the next book. What to read next? I've read 9 audiobooks this month, some of them chunksters. I think I will continue to lop off the oldest titles on my tbr list until April arrives.
I imagine all readers are aware of who Nelson Mandela is, but for the future generations of children, this is a welcome addition to the Little People BIG DREAMS series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This boy moved from a traditional childhood in an old culture to become a champion for freedom and a world leader.
4.5★ My review of Nelson Mandela
I've just read a new debut that's a 20th century story by Aussie author Emily Brugman. A group of Finns migrated to the heat of Western Australia and became seasonal cray fishers on The Islands. First generation is traditional - second is in hotpants at beach BBQs.
4.5~5★ My review of The Islands
I'm still reading Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind. Very interesting. I did a quick read of The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had. I just skipped the books summaries because of the possibility of spoilers, but the rest was interesting and useful.
I am also reading Later and listening to Distant Star.
I am about 3/4 of the way through Postmortem which I am reading for the yearly challenge. (Published 1990) I am finding it so interesting as we revisit a life before cell phones, high speed computers without dial up, and when DNA was still a very new science. What a difference 32 years make!

Laura (Lclwags) wrote: "That sounds interesting! Adding this to my TBR."I thought the same thing, then I realized it was a first one in series and decided to wait a little before impulsively adding it. I hope my TBR appreciates my effort. :D
I finally finished The Younger Wife and now I'm reading Indistractable: How to Control Your Attention and Choose Your Life for the monthly challenge.
Christine wrote: "How many books have you read for your monthly challenge Kristie?"This is the first one for this challenge, Christine. I will have to read quickly to get it done on time. :)
I started reading The Guide. If you’ve read The River by the same author, The Guide carries on with one of the characters from the previous book. It would be a good idea to read The River (5 stars imo) first. I hope I like this one as much.
Roz wrote: "I started reading The Guide. If you’ve read The River by the same author, The Guide carries on with one of the characters from the previous book. It would be a good ..."Good to know, Roz. I really liked The River. Added.
I finished Peach Blossom Spring. It was a good read - historical fiction set in China, Taiwan, and the U.S. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am currently reading The Cold Dish for my yearly challenge. I have owned the ebook book for a long time and it has been on my TBR list since 2015. I am loving the characters and the writing style.I am going to check out the TV series on Netflix when I am done.
Another series looks to be going onto my list (18 books).
The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudesley is an entertaining debut by Sean Lusk which has some history, some mystery, some magic, and exotic locales (think sultan and harem!) so I can see a real fan base for this when it comes out in June.
3.5★ My review of Second Sight of Zachary...
I enjoyed Viet Thanh Nguyen's 2016 Pulitzer Prize winner, The Sympathizer, but the political and philosophical arguments got the better of me in his follow-up, The Committed. He's an excellent, smart writer - and funny (a Chinese guy called Le Cao Boi wishes he were American).

Zeba Blay's Carefree Black Girls: A Celebration of Black Women in Popular Culture is a passionate protest, full of examples, about the global culture of "colorism" and how the darkness of your skin decides your worth and opportunities. She knows her stuff!
4★ My review of Carefree Black Girls
