Colm Toibin is one of my favourite authors. He is so versatile, his work encompasses several different genres. Ireland does have a great history of writing and he is the present representative of great literature giants.."

This is the first work of his that I've read, Dorothy. I think I'd better look around for more!

I've found Robotham's work too dark for me."

I agree that parts of it are dark, but I enjoy the actual characters and Joe enough to make up for it. So far, it never feels like blood and gore for the sake of it.

How appropriate that this mystery has two titles: Crossing the Lines, and After She Wrote Him. Aussie author Sulari Gentill is a favourite of mine, and I loved her unique, twisty, psychological invention!

I finished The Lindbergh Nanny . I thought it was good, but a bit slow in places. I gave the story 3.5 stars, but rounded up for the audio narration, which was very well done.

The Lost Ticket - I'm loving this one. So sweet.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency - I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet. It is rambling and kind of boring in some places, but really funny in others.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun - I'm just starting this one, but I thought the first two in the series were funny and I really enjoyed them.

This is a historical fiction novel based on a real family of serial killers known at the Bloody Benders. Overall, this story is startling, violent, horrifying, thought provoking, and emotional, with great world-building and characterization. It was a hair-raising and chilling read. So why only 3 stars? The alternating points of view occasionally disrupted the flow. Additionally, the writing was fluent at times and felt stilted and stylistic at other times.

Overall, this magical realism novella is short, somewhat peculiar, and gripping. It is satirical at times, sad at other times, and occasionally uplifting. However, the writing style felt choppy to me, and I did not like the ending. Despite this, I’m glad I read it. It’s unusual and thought-provoking.

Katherine Mansfield was one of New Zealand's most well-known authors, and I'm a fan. Her short stories are insightful and biting. Poor Miss Brill just wanted a little attention.

It is a suspenseful, riveting true crime book that combines great storytelling, cold case investigations, technological advances, and genetic genealogy in a captivating crime read. Additionally, the author does a great job of explaining the science and the controversies in terms that can be easily understood.

Hmm, it's #13 (urban fantasy with a missing person & murders) and it's showing. It was a tedious slog at the beginning and the ending (last 25%) redeemed the story so it's a 3☆, maybe 3.5 ☆, for me.

The story captivated me from the first page to the last. The deeply involved and multi-layered plot has some unpredictable moments that add suspense and danger. The world-building is excellent. Overall, this action-packed romantic suspense has great characterization, a little spice, and plenty of action.

Jon McGregor is a terrific Irish author who was commissioned by the BBC to write these stories, The Reservoir Tapes, to follow his highly acclaimed debut, Reservoir 13. He is just so good.

Really enjoyed it. However, the Kindle Unlimited came with narration which I could not listen to since the narrator was horrible.
