message 2: by Allyson (new)

Allyson Hello, Allyson here in Arizona, USA. I am 41 and an avid reader. I was talking to some friends about book clubs and decided to search here for an online book club. It has taken me several months but I finally found this group. Hopefully it is just what I am looking for!

I love to read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. However, I do seem to drop into phases. Sometimes its a phase for genres: i.e. all thriller or fantasy books for a while. Sometimes it is subjects: i.e. all WWII books; both fiction and non-fiction. Just wherever my mood takes me. I will say Sarah J. Mass is my favorite author.

I found this group by searching the hundreds of groups on Goodreads. I have been on this platform for a while but only found the discussions in the last few months. I have tried other groups but they weren't the right fit for me. Fingers crossed I am here to stay!

So my reading goal in 2020 was 150 books. I was saddened when I didn't even hit 100. So for 2021 I made my goal 100 books. I have now read 120 books. So I will set my reading goal at 122 for 2022. Then maybe I can make it 150 by the time 2023 rolls around. ;)

message 3: by Kristi (new)

Kristi Hey there, new here from Oregon, USA, and intrigued. I found this group through a booktuber I watch, and as I'm setting new goals for 2022 this seems like a great group to jump into. After a few rough years, I lost my enjoyment of most things (reading, music, etc) and I'm slowly finding joy in those things again. One of my key goals for the new year is to I want to read more and scroll (A LOT) less. Excited to find some new books, take on some challenges, and chat books with you all.

Ilona | 4698 comments Welcome Allyson and Kristi! We are so glad to have you in the group :)

message 5: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Lanigan | 1 comments Hi there! I’m Victoria from Chicago. I read all genres!
I’m a 40 year old mom. My husband and I have three teens. I read 434 books in 2021. Razorblade Tears, The Guncle and Amelia Unabridged rounded out my top 3. I’m setting a goal for 100 for 2022. I’m hopeful won’t be so cooped up in the house like we were in 2020…and 2021 🤣

message 8: by Leandra (new)

Leandra Van | 39 comments hi All, pleased to meet you.

my name is Leandra, I live in beautiful South Africa. In my free time I visit National Parks and Photograph wildlife, do a bit of specimen carp angling and I am an avid cross stitcher.

During the past few years I neglected my passion for reading books because my other hobbies took up a lot of time. This year I would like to play more of a balancing act.

I set my reading limit to 65 books for the year which is quite high considering how rusted I am, but I have to have a high target or else I will not be challenging myself.

if you see I am quiet please send me a message to get my head out of my arse and work on my challenges. I will happily accept an arse kicking or some motivation.

Enjoy your new years day and hope this year brings the best to all of you.

love xxx

message 9: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Hello! I’m 35 and from the UK. I have set my reading challenges as 30 books this year :)

I love all sorts of books mostly fiction but I am interested in broadening my genres as I am stuck on a bit of a psychological thrillers phase!

message 10: by Sienna (new)

Sienna Keane | 2 comments Hey! I’m Sienna and i am 15. I am from Ireland and i am a determined reader! I found your group from looking up “goals” in join groups.

I used to read 2/3 books a week and i really wish to go back to reading so much. My goal is to read 20 books before 22 ends. There is one series (shatter me by Tahereh Mafi) and one classic (To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee). There is also two duologys’. The rest are just singles.

I’m really excited to get started as this year i have decided to focus on the authors instead of the genres.

I hope everyone completed their reading goals! Best of luck to you all ❤️

message 11: by mia (new)

mia | 3 comments Hello, I’m Mia! I am 15 years old and from Australia.

Last year I neglected my challenge after getting into a reading slump, but this year my goal is to read 60 books by the end of 2022.

I am an avid reader and really excited for this years challenge. This year I want to focus on reading books that I normally wouldn’t be drawn to, like non-fiction or fantasy as I want to be open to more genres

I love reading classics, contemporary, crime/mystery, YA, poetry, philosophical and romance!

Good luck to everyone and happy 2022! 📖☕️🤍

message 12: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Nichols | 687 comments Hi there - my name is Ronda and I'm from Arizona. I've been a part of this group for awhile. I love to read about the types of challenges, book recommendations and enjoy that it is a nice place to track my reading. I don't participate as much as I'd like, but I still enjoy checking the pages out when I can.

I read all types of books - I don't stick to any genre, because I bounce around a lot. I think the Pop Sugar challenge will be fun this year because it will bounce around a lot.

I'm a mom of 3 teenage daughters (the oldest turns 20 this year), and I usually read what they have to read for school also. That way we can discuss together. Only one is still in high school so I really do get to read "my own" choices more now.

My yearly goal is 65! Last year I did 64 - I had hoped to finish one last book yesterday, but ran out of time.

Good luck to everyone and happy 2022!!

I joined this group in 2020 and have been enjoying it a lot.

My reading goals for 2022 is to read 30 books, I choose to not count graphic novels or manga as part of that total. My other goal is to finish a lot of books I own but have not read before.

message 20: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Fairbrother (motherinme) | 1 comments Hello, my name is Heidi and I LOVE to read but since having kids (who are older now, no excuse NOT to read), I just haven't made the time to sit down with books. I read, I get a couple of books read during the year but nowhere near my challenge.
I'm from Maine, I used to love romance, now leaning towards fantasy/paranormal, I found the group by doing a search for Challenge (to get me motivated to read :) My reading goal is to read 50 books this year. I am part of a reading group at our local high school that I used to work at so they get me reading books I normally wouldn't have chosen. I want to finish all the books that the group puts forth ( I lose interest very quickly and they really do choose some great books!) plus find some new great reads :)

message 21: by Avra (new)

Avra | 5 comments Hi,my name is Lucia and I'm from Poland. I am a huge fan of fantasy, romance and science fiction ,but I'm always open for other genres. I've decided to make an account on goodreads and find a cool club(and luck brought me here), so once again I can say that I feel happy to be here. It's my first time doing a reading challenge. I've set my goal with 2022 to read 30 books and hopefully I will find the time for all of that.

message 22: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 28 comments Hello, my name is Stacy. I'm from Nebraska, USA. I love to read but rarely make the time to read for pleasure. My favorite genres are mystery, classic and history. My realistic reading goal is one book a month but hope I can read two books a month.

message 23: by Candace (new)

Candace Hutchison | 4 comments Hello.

I’m Candace. I’m from California and I am as my husband says a voracious reader. I read everything from fantasy to YA to romance to historical fiction. This is my first year doing an actual challenge.

I’m also mom of two amazing boys and a writer. I write a lot short stories that interconnect. I’m working on a full novel but it’s a passion project more than anything still.

Hope to get some great suggestions to read from others here.

Thanks!!

Hello good souls,
My name is M, an indie author from Algeria, if you don't know where it is, it's in North Africa, the biggest country in the continent
I published my first book July 2021, hoping to publish my third and fourth book in 2022
Feel free to follow me for support or if you have any questions
Thank you

message 26: by Tonya (new)

Tonya | 2 comments Hi. I’m Tonya. Recently retired. 57 and live in Colorado. I may have made an introduction on another thread already, but I’m still trying to figure out navigation in these groups.
This is my first year joining any Goodreads groups. I’ve pretty much been a solo GR reader and have only participated in the standard GR challenge.
I’m very much an introvert, and I’m generally quiet until I get a feel for things. Still trying to figure out how to participate in the challenges.
I’ve set a conservative goal of 50 books this year. I surpassed my goal for last year (30) by more than 10 books, so I think it’s doable. Plus, I’m in four book clubs now.
I love my physical books, and my Kindle, but I do a lot of audiobooks. I can listen while doing chores, driving, or other crafts. Audio has been a huge game changer in my “reading”.
I read and listen to many different genres. I’m not sure I have a favorite anymore. Classics; mystery; fiction; horror; paranormal; some romance; non-fiction.
Excited for 2022 reading challenges.

message 27: by Prianka Rao (new)

Prianka Rao | 3 comments Hi, I’m Prianka, I’m from India, currently living in London. I grew up reading all the time; however I’m reading a lot less frequently than I’d like to, thanks to work and life and everything else. I’m keen to get back to reading more regularly and a reading goal and supportive group is a great way to stay on track. I’m keen to read a book a week/ 52 books over the year.

message 29: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) | 16 comments Hi All - I'm a newbie to the group.
My name is Julia, I was raised in NJ-USA and currently live in FL-USA.
My 2022 Goals are to read more new authors and to read genre outside of my comfort zone... I especially want to target westerns, biography or memoirs, HF outside of WW2, and listen to audiobooks of a print book I was not able to get into.

message 30: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimkienzle) Happy New Year!

My name is Kim and I’m from New Jersey in the US. I mainly read fiction, just about all genres, but also non-fiction and a bit of poetry.

I found this group by searching on Goodreads for an active book group that supports all types of readers and that has lots of discussion about everything being read. I’ve been looking for just the right group for several years and hope this is it!

My reading goal for this year is 70 books…we’ll see!

message 31: by Amy J (last edited Jan 02, 2022 08:39AM) (new)

Amy J (ajigou) | 13 comments Hi everyone!
Even though I have been in the group awhile, I am now hoping to more actively participate in the challenges and read along.

I am a professor teaching at the University of Northern Iowa. I have been an avid reader since my teen years, but slowed down significantly while going back to school and starting my 2nd career at UNI.

Since I read a lot of non fiction for work, I primarily read fiction of most kinds. I mostly read mystery and general fiction, but do dabble in SciFi and Fantasy now and then.

Feel free to friend me on Goodreads.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I am 46 and love to learn new languages. Whenever I am ready to read a book in my target language I read my books 📚 in my currently target language. At the moment I am reading in Croatian. It takes much longer to read a book but it’s a lot of fun.

Black Cat Bookshelves | 7 comments Hello everyone, I’m very excited to be part of the group. My reading goal for 2022 is 200 books (I was feeling very ambitious.. lol) I am from Philadelphia, Pa. I am getting back into reading. Always loved it but allowed myself to get away from it. So I’m jumping in with both feet this year. I am currently reading Verity by Colleen Hoover. I look forward to making friends, reading lost of books and having the chance to talk about them with other books lovers… 🥰

message 37: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa Hi, Everyone,
I was born in the Bahamas but raised in the States. I spent a bit of my childhood in New York, and a few of my adult years in Texas, but the majority of my life has been in Florida. I currently live on the Treasure Coast.
I love Speculative Fiction, with my favorite genre being Fantasy. The more varying types of beings, the better. I enjoy a diverse group of characters.
This group has popped on on my feed quite a bit today; A few of my GR friends have joined, so I have decided to check it out.
My goal this year is 24 books, double my usual set amount.
I'm hoping that by changing things up a little, I'll be motivated to push through the year.
Nice to meet you all.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey! I'm Samantha and I'm from Canada. I plan on reading 356 books this year, but that's mostly because I'm planning on tackling a lot of long manga series. If I were to only include novels the goal would be closer to 100.

I mainly read fantasy and young adult, though I try and have a few books from every genre. I have my favourites but I like to consider myself to be somewhat widely read.

message 39: by Lissa (new)

Lissa Feliz | 1 comments Hi Lissa over here, I’m from New York and I’m excited to be in this bookclub. My goal is to read 30+ books this year. Happy new year 2022!!!

Hannah H | 3 comments Hi, everyone! My name is Hannah, and I’m a ballet teacher and pre-medical student living in Ohio with my hubby and two cats.

Fiction is definitely my favorite to read, although I’ll read most anything (horror excluded)!

I was that kid that would read books while brushing her teeth in the morning, so it saddens me that life has gotten in the way of my reading lately. My goal for 2022 is very small, only 12 books, but I’m so excited to be a part of this group!

Happy reading, everyone!!
