Allie Hey guys!

I’m Allie from Chicago and I’m 26 years old. I re-discovered my love for reading within the past couple of years during covid and now I'm addicted. I read mostly romance, with the occasional thriller and fantasy thrown in there. My reading goal for 2022 is 100 books.

Can't wait to read with y'all! Cheers and happy reading!

message 206: by Tanya (new)

Tanya | 2 comments Hello! I am Tanya and I am from New York.

- What kinds of books do you like to read?

I really enjoy true crime, mystery, thriller genres. I do however read other genres, particularly if I find something that sounds interesting.

- How did you find our group?

I saw in my update feed that a friend joined the group and decided to jump into the fun.

- What's your reading goal?

My reading goal for this year was 18 books. That was the number of books I read in 2021, so I made it my goal for this year. I have since surpassed that and will be interested to see how many I read this year.

message 207: by Cris (new)

Cris | 3 comments Hi Everyone!
My name is Cristina. I'm currently a studying in the US but I was born and raised in Panama. Honestly I tend to rid a bit of everything except YA these past two years I have been trying to get back into reading. I think I've been doing a good job so far. This year I have been reading a lot of romances because they are easier to read but I want to explore other genres that I know I like. Some other genres I like are fantasy, historical fiction, thrillers, and non fiction. I have set up my 2022 reading challenge for 22 books and im halfway done already so im excited.

I found this group searching for book challenges (I found that having a fun system like the current kindle spring challenge has helped me read more often). Hopefully I get to meet some of y'all and have fun.

Heather Coffee_Kindle (hevm) Hello I'm Heather from North Wales, UK.
I'm an on/off reader depending on how busy my work schedule is, but I do love reading, I am trying to branch out on genres a little more the last few years to keep things interesting, but I always go back to thriller/mystery/horror genres, when either the mood takes me or I'm not sure what to read next.

I've started up a Book Review Gram - https://www.instagram.com/coffee_kindle/

Nishtha (nishbook) | 3 comments Hey Everyone,

I am Nishtha from India. I just love reading books. Mostly fiction catches my attention but i read memoirs, autobiographies, psychology and self-help also.

My book interests are vivid, depending on my mood and what I am going thru at the moment in life. I used to feel bad starting a new book before finishing the one reading but Kindle has changed me 😅. These days I have anywhere between 10-20 books as currently reading.

My myntra..life’s too short and there’s too many good books out there to read a book that stops captivating you 😇

My reading goal for this year is 20 books. I have already finished 16 books.

I hope to have some interesting conversations and make some friends.

Thanks for reading

Elizabeth | 1 comments Hello everyone! Elizabeth here from New Mexico, USA. I enjoy reading self-help, psychology, classics, true crime, and many more. I found this group when I searched for a reading group that was active but, also had a nice selection of interesting books. I am hoping to read at least 50 books this year to start and who knows, I may be able to read more. I am a bit nervous as this is my first reading challenge/group so wish me luck!

I was an avid reader as a child but since my teens reading was put by the wayside, lockdown brought my love of reading back although with 2 small children i can find it hard to fit it in sometimes.

My goal this year is currently 37 books which I think I may be able to achieve.

I hope to discover new books and authors and work through a few of those books I think I have read but haven't. Best to all!

Sabrina Prado | 1 comments Hi! I’m Sabrina and I’m from Miami. I recently got back into reading after a massive slump that lasted about a year :( I decided to keep track of my progress and try to build a community on goodreads just to make the whole experience more fun. I would like to diversify the books I read since I’ve mostly ever read fantasy and romance (YA and new adult specifically) and just become a more thorough reader overall :)

message 226: by Tisha (new)

Tisha (bookslover18) Hello, i am Tia, 19 from India, love to read books - romance, suspense, mystery, thriller, fantasy.

message 229: by Asia (new)

Asia Garcia (asia07) Hi everyone!
I’m so excited to be in community with you all.

I found this group through a booktuber/blogger who I love so much (books & lala) and had to join!

I’m from south Florida and I’m just a week shy of turning 28 years old. I have my degree in English literature so I’ve always been a reader and lover of books.

I’m interested in pretty much any genre, with the few exceptions of high fantasy & deep sci-fi.
(I will give them a try if a certain book is highly recommended, but I’ve noticed that my reading style just never truly connects with those 2 genres specifically).

My reading goal for 2022 is just a small amount of 20 books since I took an entire year long reading hiatus, so I’m going easy on myself this time around to enter back into reading with ease.

Again, thanks for having me! Excited to see what everyone’s reading and your thoughts.

Best,
Asia

I’m looking forward to follow along with your goals as well, because who knows, you may be reading my next favorite book.

message 231: by Michelle E (last edited Jul 20, 2022 01:39AM) (new)

Michelle E Hi, I'm Michelle from New Hampshire, USA. I joined the group to invigorate my reading challenge (about 75-100) and to interact with other book lovers.

I work at my local library and soooo many good books pass through my hands that it's hard to narrow my reading interests to a specific genre. In general, I like fiction, thrillers and historical fiction, but am open to reading anything interesting.

I've never participated in a buddy read or a challenge such as the monthly/yearly challenges you mention here, but would very much like to. I found the group by searching for "buddy reads" and this looks like a friendly, welcoming group.

I'm excited to get started!

message 232: by Heather (new)

Heather Dufield | 94 comments I'm from the 603 too. Welcome to the group. I've find myself reading books that I wouldn't normally pick out for myself with the monthly challenges.

Hi, Heather,

I think it's great to expand your reading choices! Right now, I'm trying to pick books on my TBR to whittle it down. :^)

message 234: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrilynn) | 12 comments Hello, I am Terri and I am from Pennsylvania. I used to read quite a lot in my younger years and would like to get back to reading and trying new genres. My goal is to complete 12 shelved books this year.

message 235: by yeahlydia__ (new)

yeahlydia__ | 4 comments Hi, I'm Grace (pseudonym), and I'm from the USA (can't share anything else). I'm 15 and the only thing I'm really obsessed with is books.

- I mostly read fantasy, but I also read anything except biographies, comics (I will, however, read certain graphic novels about superheroes) and certain nonfiction. I'm also not really into plays.
- I was invited to the group by a new friend on GoodReads.
- My reading goal was 28 books because I started in June and used to read 4 books a month (28 total over 7 months). Now, however, I set a TBR of 8 books a month plus anything I feel like reading, and since I have limited space, I usually read random books to get them out of the way for new arrivals.

Happy to be here, and happy reading to all of you!

message 236: by Robin (new)

Robin | 1 comments Hi, I'm Robin from Pennsylvania. I just recently upped my goal from 20 books to 30 for this year. I mostly read contemporary fiction, some poetry, and the occasional non-fiction book. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading! Would love to expand my reading into different genres with books others recommend.

message 237: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1 comments Hi, I'm Laura, 32, from Yorkshire in the UK. I have always enjoyed reading, particularly classics but with my job I never really make enough time! I hope that joining some discussions and challenges I'll make more time for it.

message 239: by Gabriela (new)

Gabriela (gabrielasmw) | 3 comments Hi people! I'm Gabriela, this year I decided to make an effort and challenge myself towards reading 50 books.
My favorite ones are A Little Life /Hanya Yanagihara and Stories to die for/Ana Claudia Quintana Arantes. I love every kind of dramatic fictions, HQ's and books about the misteries of the earth, life and death, I hope joining nice discussions and challenges here :)

message 240: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 11 comments Hi there! I'm Courtney, I live in Columbia South Carolina. I am a recent graduate so I'm finally getting back into reading for fun and looking for motivation and recommendations.

I enjoy a wide range of books and wouldn't say there's one kind of book I enjoy. I love character driven novels. My current favorites are The Secret History, Normal People, The Stranger, The Awakening, and The Handmaid's Tale.

My goal is 20 books this year.

message 241: by Deepak (new)

Deepak (restles5_soul) | 1 comments Hello Everyone,
My name is Deepak Jain, 25 years old. I like TV, Anime and I read 10-15 books a year, not much I know :-).
City life is very noisy and crowded so trying to dive into the world of books. I like all kinds of books, just giving a try to everything and looking forward to make some online friends who can read with me and challenge me to read more.

:-)

A | 6 comments Hi!
I'm Aysenur from Turkey. I'm 29 years old, working as an internal medicine resident in an university hospital. This is my last year and I'm busy with my thesis. Also I was struggling with depression in the first half of the year, so I couldn't read much. But reading is one of the thing that keep me living that makes life bearable. So I'll try my best to catch my goal of 50 books. Although it seems unlikely, I'm not giving up.
I mostly read fiction and I love classics.
It's nice to meet you all and have a nice life. :)

message 245: by Martha (new)

Martha | 1 comments Hello all! Martha here. I’m a California girl living in PA. I’ve always loved reading but have gone through periods where I’ve only been able to read kid books to my kids. Then for a while I forgot how much I love to read. But now I’m back on the reading track and so happy! Nothing better than discovering a new favorite book! My favorite genres are fantasy, sci-fi, mystery/thrillers, current fiction and even some non-fiction real science books. My goal this year is modest at 20 books. Some books I’ve read and loved this year are Circe, Shards of the Earth, The Lincoln Highway and Remarkably Bright Creatures. Nice to meet everyone

message 249: by Iryna (new)

Iryna Melnyk | 1 comments Hello everyone! My name is Iryna. I am 33 years old. I am from Ukraine, but due to war I live in Romania right now. I am an IT project manager on maternity leave. My daughter will be 2 years old in October.

I love books. Until university I was a regular in our small local library. During my university period and start of my career I didn’t read much for pleasure. I couldn’t find time to read paper-back books. Everything changed when I got into audiobooks :) I started listening to books everywhere. On my way to the work, while I was brushing my teeth, cooking and even falling asleep. My friends and I organized a small book club. It is on pause now due to political situation unfortunately. Hopefully we will revive it a bit later, but for now I am trying to find a place where I can discuss books with people equally passionate about reading. This is why I found this group :)

I set up a humble goal of 24 books this year because I was not sure how changes in my life will affect my reading mood. But I am actually ahead of the schedule already so hopefully I will finish this year with 30-35 books.

Thank you for organizing this group! I am excited to be here :)

message 250: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (leslierenee) | 4 comments I am excited you are in this group. I was a late convert to audiobooks as well, but they have definitely helped me balance curling up with a book all day and still "adulting".
