E | 4 comments Hi everyone!! I’m finally introducing myself on this space, I joined at the beginning of the year and life got a bit busy. My name is Ethell and I’m from Fiji.

I found out about this group on my timeline, I was scrolling through GR as I usually do and it showed me that a mutual friend had joined this group so I decided to check it out and I absolutely loved the concept so I decided to join.

Books that I love? Hmmmm. I’ve only just rediscovered my love for reading in 2020 but seriously started last year, so I’m open to discovering new genres. I love all things FICTION, so I’m willing to read anything (maybe excluding alien sex, I’m still traumatized)

My reading goal is to read 24 books this year, I’ve read 23 books so far. I had the same goal last year but ended up reading 150 books, I’m not trying to compete with that just want to take it easy and not turn everything into a competition so I that I don’t find myself in a slump. Excited to be here and interact with other readers!!

message 154: by Sara☆ (new)

Sara☆ (fantasyforeverafter) | 3 comments Hi! my name’s Sara and I’m from the UK.

I love fantasy, so that’s what I mostly read, along with YA and sci-fi (and the occasional graphic novel).

I’m trying to read 100 books this year (which is more than double my highest from previous years) and it’s going pretty well so far!! I always love making bookish friends, so feel free to message me :)

message 155: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Haden (staciehaden) | 8 comments Hi! I'm Stacie from colorful Colorado! I found the group as I love challenges and ticking off lists! :) I'm 54 and I am married and a Mom of three girls (14, 17 & grown with 5 kids of her own)

I work as a Stock Broker, but when I'm not doing that I am playing board games with my family (we have hundreds), reading, appreciating and cataloguing Art, learning the ukulele and the lyre harp, learning Spanish and Girl Scout troop leading.

My favorite genre is Mysteries (especially historical or International mysteries) but I will also mix in Classics and an occasional Sci Fi or Fantasy. I'll read anything except self-help books. This year I am doing a couple challenges so some of what I read will delve from the usual. Happy Reading, everyone!

message 156: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Cayer | 2 comments Hi! I’m Mindy from Vermont. I’ve struggled with reading for pleasure since becoming a mom 9 years, ago. My mind can’t seem to stay focused on an “alternate reality” (also I just have ridiculous anxiety…fun times). I’ve decided to end that, this year. I’ve already finished 3 books since starting to read with intention in February - and with 4 small kids - I’m counting that as a win.
My genre of choice is thriller/mystery/suspense/horror. I love a good romance once in awhile - but nothing cheesy. I want to be caught off guard and have an incentive to turn each page.
Im currently reading my first Shari Lapina book The Couple Next Door - recommended by Lala and I cannot put it down. Seriously, leave me alone so I can go read.

message 157: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I've been part of this group for a while, but I always try and introduce myself once a year!

I'm Ashleigh, I'm 30 in less than a month (cries) and I'm a casual/relief/sub (whatever you want to call it) primary school teacher from Australia. I have done my time with classes but prefer the felxibility of casual.

I have an almost 3 year old daughter and I love to read fantasy mostly but I'm more than happy to try something new when it's called for.

I don't mind if you want to add me as a friend on here! I always like seeing what people are reading!

message 158: by David (new)

David (goodreadscomdalvarezmiranda) | 1 comments Hi, David here from Lima, Peru. I have been coming back my reading habit. I like to read non fiction (bio, new tech, humankind, history, emotional intelligence, skills) and fiction (sci Fi and thrillers). My reading goal for this year is 2 books 📚 per month.

Jenny La | 3 comments Hi book lovers,
I am back from a very long break. I used to read a lot in a different language, this is the 1st time I read in English and I am comfortable. I read YA, Romance, and I am a quick reader. 100+ this year for 365 book goal.
I am from CA, mom of 2 kids and a computer nerd. Besides reading, I love travel and swimming.
Hope to share my love with everyone. Thanks for welcoming me to the group.

Bookishly.bantering | 2 comments Hello! I am Erin. I am a wife and mother of 2. I am from South Carolina, USA. I was in a bit of readers slump for over a year but have found joy in reading again! I am new to Goodreads because I was looking for a place to talk about books with other bookworms. I am pretty sure I was driving my family and friends crazy with my constant chatter about books. So far in 2022, I have read 10 books. It may not be many but I am proud of it. I like all genres, thrillers, romance, sci-fi, YA, etc. I found this group through Goodreads, since I was trying to find ways to connect with others who love books as much as I do. My current reading goal for 2022 is to read 24 books but I am hoping to exceed that! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the group.

message 161: by Celestial_dragon (new)

Celestial_dragon | 6 comments Hello everyone! My name is Tammy and I'm from Washington state. I want to get back to reading and felt being part of this group would keep me on task. I was part of a classic book reading group years ago that sadly disbanded after about three years. We read Dickens, Trollope, Zola, and many other authors that I was introduced to for the first time. My favorites were Moby Dick, The Count of Monte Cristo and anything by Dickens.

I enjoy classic fiction but also science fiction and fantasy.

I am ready for another adventure!

message 162: by Anima (new)

Anima Hi group my name is Naima and I live in CA. I would love to do a buddy read next month the Pilgrimage by Coelho (in April.) It will be his first work for me. I tried to post it in the buddy read topic but I find the GR app a bit glitchy. Anyone interested in the read please feel free to message or friend me.

message 163: by April (new)

April Miller My name is April and i live in Arkansas. I am a business analyst and avid book reader, I will be 51 years old in a few days. I have always been a avid book reader, but raising kids and working full time left me very little time to read over the last 2 decades. Thanks to have grown children and Covid i have gotten back into reading full time.
My goals for 2022 is to read at least 250 books (i am currently at 123) and to finish about 20 series i have started. My genre of choice is alpha male romances/erotica leaning toward MC, Military or Security/Protection characters. I think in 2022 i want to branch out a little into Cowboy main characters but i have a lot of series to finish before i try to start them. I don't really care for standalone book, i trend toward series so you get a feel for all the characters in the books,
I would love to be in a book club with people who love to read the same genre and discuss the books we read, there are so many books i have read that i would like to discuss with someone but i know no-one personally that has read any of the books i read or is interested in reading what i read either.

Ronja (ronjawagner) | 73 comments Hey everyone!
My name is Ronja and I'm from germany :)
After a long time of not having the time & energy to read, I'm finally trying to get back into reading this year!
My goal for this year is set really low (1 book a month), because I don't want to put any pressure on myself to read, but instead focus on having fun while reading.
At the moment, I'm trying to read every book I own, before I buy new ones. I'd also love to re-read some books I liked but haven't read in a long time.
I'm hoping that joining this group will keep me on track :)

message 166: by Selena (new)

Selena | 3 comments Hi Everyone! My name is Selena and I am a recent English Literature graduate in Toronto, ON. I found this group because I am looking for a bookclub to talk to likeminded people about books for fun.
I love to read everything. I tend to gravitate towards adult fiction, thrillers, mysteries, and historical fiction. My passions started because of paranormal and YA fiction.
My book goal is 66 books this year! I'm already at 16, on my 17th, and I'm hoping to stay on track :)

I am from the UK and I have joined this group to find likeminded people who enjoy reading books. I like participating in challenges and group reads, therefore this group is great for this. I like reading various with historical fiction and thriller being my chosen ones at the moment. I found the group through a search, where I typed in keywords and it was one of the couple that popped up, I'm still finding my feet so hopefully this group will be good for me. My reading goals at the moment are at last 30 books, but I'm anticipating to read at least another 40 books before the year is out due to book clubs and challenges I'm participating in.

message 168: by Sharyn (new)

Sharyn | 1 comments Hello! I’m Sharyn from the UK, slowly getting back into reading so I set myself a New Year’s resolution of 2 books per month, currently on book 6 so I’m on track :) I like a mix bag of genres though struggle keeping my attention going with romance novels

message 169: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1 comments Hi I’m Sarah, I’m 51 and live in the UK. I have always loved reading. I am looking forward to joining the reading groups and trying new books that I would not normally have chosen.

Happy reading x

Jannelies (living between hope and fear) | 31 comments Hi, I'm Jannelies, 63, from the Netherlands. I'm on GR for a couple of years now. I've always been an avid reader but nowadays I do not have a lot of time for reading, sadly. I read thrillers and SF mainly, but discovered that I also like cozy mysteries too. What I will never ever read is a book with a tatooed man on it ;-). I've been writing reviews since the mid-eighties and hope to be able to do so for many years to come.

message 171: by Ash (new)

Ash Vaught Hello everyone,

My name is Ash, I am 31 years old and currently reside in Florida. I am a library staff employee and am actively pursuing my Masters in Information Science in order to step into a Librarian position.

I consider myself to be an avid reader with preferences for these genres: fantasy, romance, sci-fi, historical fiction, YA, and urban fiction. Due to being back in school and working a full-time job, my reading challenge is set to 52 books a year.

My TBR pile is highly motivating but I have so little time! Here's to another year of fun reads!

Blagica | 12941 comments Welcome everyone so happy to have you! The reading year is in full swing! we have so many challenges, group reads, and other fun things to keep you moving and motivated.

message 173: by Florence (new)

Florence | 12 comments Hi everyone. I’m from Washington state and I found this group a few years ago, but I have been in a reading slump for years.
I just started reading again because I saw an article that most readers read about 4,200 books in their lifetime and that made me panic, because it is not a lot and there are so many good books that I want to read!

I will give any genre a go, but I mostly ready fantasy and science fiction because they are great ways of escapism.

My goal for this year is 60 books. I’ve never read that many in year, but I’m confident that my new use of audiobook listening and a few comics/manga will bring me there!

message 174: by Tirzah (new)

Tirzah (tearsofjoy) | 2 comments Hello all!

My name is Tirzah and I’m a wandering soul. Originally, I grew up in the Midwest but ran away to Los Angeles to live a life free from judgement. I’m queer and here. My reading goal for 2022 was originally 15 books, but I’ve moved it to 20 books as of this week. At the pace I’m going though, I’m likely to surpass 20 books. It might be possible to read 50 by the end of the year. Fingers crossed! I recently got a library card because I don’t have enough shelf space for my books and am in a hunt for a job.

Also I have a bad habit of reading fast. My speed is uncanny. The exception is the beginning of Priory of the Orange Tree. The first 150 pages were unbearably slow. I often got irritated and wanted to chuck the book a wall. But once I got past the beginning, the book wrapped its arms around me and pulled me in. The beginning took me 3 days to read, the remaining part of the book took me two. My boyfriend laughed at me once I finished and wanted more since I complained about the beginning.

I still want more. The ending left me confused as all hell as to what happened to Tané. But yeah, that’s a little about me and one of my favorite books so far. My messages are open any time if anyone wants to chat!

I did something similar last year -- set a goal of 52 novels and *just* made it. Based on that experience, I wrote these 7 tips for reading more in 2022. https://www.miketrigg.com/blog/7-tips...

message 177: by Lea (new)

Lea Vlajnić | 1 comments Hello, everyone! My name is Lea and I'm from Serbia. I love to read, but it's really hard for me to pick favourite genre since I'm still trying different things out. That is the reason I joined this group - I wanted to challange myself and read book I wouldn't otherwise. I generally enjoy fiction - historical fiction, dystopian novels, misteries, psychological thrillers, fantasy...

My reading goal for 2022 is 50 books, but I hope to surpass that number!

I'm very excited about reading along with everyone here!

message 178: by alex (new)

alex (alexandr1ne) | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Alex and I started using Goodreads in earnest last month. It has been so motivating for me in my reading journey and I'm hoping that joining a couple of reading challenges will have the same effect. I have always been an avid reader, but after somewhat of a slump, my love for reading was reignited during last year's big lockdown, and I have been making a concerted effort to read in my free time ever since. I am excited to challenge myself and read 40 books this year!

message 179: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shannons_bookcase) | 7 comments Hi everyone! I just found this group today when I was looking at a new friends profile. So glad that I found it! I am from Michigan (Metro Detroit area). I love a good romance, cozy mysteries but I am really open to most genres! Trying to broaden my horizons this year. My goal is 150 books and I am currently at 60 books for the year.

message 180: by Lizzie (new)

Lizzie Johnsey | 1 comments Hi! I’m Lizzie, and I like to read science fiction, horror, mystery, and a little bit of fantasy. I’m a slower reader, and my goal is to read 24 books this year. Last year, I only read three books… so, this goal is rather high for me.

My favorite thing to do is sit outside on a sunny day and read. I’ve been getting into the Star Wars books lately, and have read five of them back to back. Now, I’m taking a break to re-read one of my favorites, The Color of Magic.

message 181: by Pouneh (new)

Pouneh (pfefferminz1362) Hi everyone!
My name is Pouneh; I live in Germany and read everything that sparks my interest. I stopped having a TBR - as it stressed me out: seeing that number of books rising was a constant reminder what I have yet not accomplished - so stopping was the only sane decision. And it brought so much more joy to my reading experience.
That being said - I'd love to buddyread a book mybe I find a new favorite I have yet to hear of?!

message 182: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 126 comments Hello! My name is Brianna. I am a college student trying to rediscover a love for reading. My goal this year is to read 50 books. I think it will be a little bit of a challenge but I am excited to see if I can reach my goal!

message 183: by Leila! (new)

Leila! Hi! My name is Leila and I’m from Florida!!

I loved to read when I was younger and then my school and extracurriculars consumed my life, and I wasn’t able to leisure read as often anymore. :(. Now that it’s the summer, I’m hoping to finally read as many books as possible.

My goal for this year is 20 books, but depending on how many I can read this summer, I’m sure I’ll exceed that!!

Very excited for this, but also very new to this platform😊

message 184: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Mae (patriciaflair) | 305 comments Hello! I joined this group last year, but I always try to introduce myself this year.
My name is Patricia, and I'm from the Philippines. The kinds of books I like to read are fiction, fantasy, young-adult, chick-lit, Graphic novels, literature, and sometimes middle-grade. I found your group by searching it, and I like challenges too, and I found this group interesting. My reading goal this year is I'm going to read 40 books.

message 186: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 13 comments Hi, my name is Jessica and I am from south Mississippi, USA. My reading goal for this year is 22 books, I love to read and normally read more than that but the books are short, quick reads that are fictional romance. The last two years I have been in school for elementary education, graduating in December of this year, so I haven't even had time for quick reads. I am a nontraditional student as I had to put schooling on hold 11 years ago when I had my oldest son. I am not only wanting to read 22 books but I want to read books that I normally would not read.

Candy | 4 comments Hello,
My name is Candy and I'm a Texan currently residing in Oklahoma.

I am a stay at home aunt with 6 homeschool kiddos. I am an avid reader but have to find the time. Which is usually before bed and is also why I'm always sleepy. I just can't put a good book down.
Nevertheless, my reading goal this year is 50 books. I am 12 books in so far and have started my 13th today. I just might pass my goal though. I love a good mystery, YA and NA, and suspense. But I am pretty much open to mostly anything.

I also am currently catching up on the BSC series from my middle school days, as I never could get them all at the time and now have the whole collection (finally!!!)
Glad to have joined this group and can't wait to meet my goal and then some!!!

Darlene Lodge | 5 comments Hello, I'm Darlene, from Winchester, VA. I've lived here most my 35yrs, with a couple of moves about the country, however I always return to the Shenandoah Valley. The mountains are a part of me and I can never stay away too long. On my last foray, I found a husband and brought him back with me. He fell in love with the mountains too!

I started reading at a very young age. I can remember reading, "Green Eggs & Ham" to my 1st grade class, as we were told to bring one of our favorite books to read aloud to the class. I remember choosing, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" for a 7th grade prose assignment. (Granted I had read that book many times since the 3rd grade and knew it by heart!) I was the girl with her nose in a book most of my school years and could never get enough of made up worlds and characters that could beat the odds.

I'm excited to be a part of this group, to remember that excitement that comes from sharing about what one has recently read to other avid readers. Reading has always been my #1 hobby and I hope to read more than my 25 books for 2022.

message 193: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello, everyone! My name is Shellie and I will be 52 yrs in just 8 more days! Whoosh, how time does fly! I live in Idaho, U.S.
I love reading almost all genres, from mystery to dystopia. I found this group while lingering on an authors page, Rachel Ignotofsky, where your I Spy Challenge was listed in Author Discussions. It looked like fun and so here I am. I have not joined any challenges yet but look forward to joining in.

Nice to meet you all!

Victoria Duke | 1 comments Hey y’all! My name is Victoria!

I’m 27 from Texas, I have two gorgeous bonus daughters, an amazing soon to be husband (October 1st can’t get here fast enough) and my four legged daughter Miss Pistol Annie. I recently fell back in love with reading, I am all about rom-coms, crime and mystery, and who doesn’t love a little smut! I have also been a hairdresser for almost 10 years, I work in a cute small down in the start of east Texas right in the historic town square. The perfect setting for a cute romantic comedy if you ask me! When I’m not making the world a more beautiful place or have my nose in a book my fiancé and I are taking road trips, we love finding new places to explore. I also love to fish, hike, well honestly just about anything outside.

I can’t wait to get to know all of y’all! Happy reading!

Sophia | 461 comments Hi everyone. I'm Sophia, new to GR... came here looking for new communities to join/friends to make :)
I love to read all kinds of adult fiction (outside of fantasy), lately I am super into thrillers and historical fiction is always a favorite. I am getting back into reading after having my son last fall, so I've set a simple goal of 24 books.

message 198: by Misha (new)

Misha | 6 comments Hi everyone!

I am Misha, originally from Pakistan but currently living in Saudia arabia. I am a mom of 4 yr old. I love reading so much but wasn’t able to read regularly last few years. Picked up reading again and I am enjoying a lot.

My favorite genres to read are thrillers and murder mysteries and sometimes romance but now I am trying to try fantasy and horror to see if I like. I like non fiction too but it takes time to finish those.

I found this group through searching on Goodreads. My goal for this year is 30 books and I’ve read 18 so far.

So glad to be a part of this group 😊

message 199: by Manda (new)

Manda "The BookBud" (thebookbud) Hi! I'm Amanda. I really like horror and thriller or bizarre fiction. I read nearly everything though since I also try to write lots of reviews. I have a goal of 50 books this year which I'm mostly on track for but wanted to join the group as I was hoping for more options of monthly group reads since I want to participate in at least one every month from at least one of the groups I'm apart of. I'm really looking forward to lots of book chats!
