PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments The Wife and the Widow by Aussie author Christian White is a suspenseful mystery that takes place on a holiday island in the off-season. No, not the idyllic tropics, but the cold, grey winter off the southern coast of Australia (next stop Antarctica). Loved it!
The Wife and the Widow by Christian White 4.5~5★ My review of The Wife and the Widow

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments A William Faulkner short story is always thought-provoking. Barn Burning introduces his much-studied Snopes family through the eyes of the honest young son. Father is a monster.
Barn Burning by William Faulkner 4★ My review of Barn Burning

The Blue Bar (Blue Mumbai, #1) by Damyanti Biswas
A gritty crime noir set in Mumbai. Relished it. Might work better for Indians, but if you are a noir fan, do try.

Rachel (mimbza) | 697 comments Palace Walk (The Cairo Trilogy, #1) by Naguib Mahfouz Palace Walk is the first book in the Cairo Trilogy by Nobel Prize winning Egyptian author Naguib Mahfouz. It tells us the story of a Muslim Arab family in Cairo between 1917 and 1919. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ here is my review

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9973 comments I really can’t recommend this audio. Jan Cramer’s light, flippant narration is better suited to romantic comedy than crime fiction like Robert Bryndza’s Devil's Way. 4★s for the story -1★ for the narrator.
