It took me awhile to get into this, but perseverance got me invested enough to rate it well for its writing and some nice turns of phrase.
My first time reading AA Larissa Behrendt was a great experience, as I really enjoyed After Story and have continued to think about it a lot since finishing.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Completed "The Surgeon's Daughter" by Audrey Blake.
I would have liked it a lot more if I had known it was a sequel and had read the first book. The story is a continuation and no character background is provided. Worth reading if you go in series order. 3.5 stars.

It's unusual to cheer for a bad guy who steals just because he's good at it, but I did find myself warming to Aussie author Garry Disher's Wyatt. Kickback is one of Disher's earliest books and the first in the Wyatt series.

The Lady with the Gun Asks the Questions
A short story anthology by Kerry Greenwood with the intriguing Miss Phryne Fisher in charge. I liked it but would have loved it more were I more familiar with the character. The short tales don't bring out her prowess to the fullest. I loved the character though.

I just enjoyed the first of this entertaining, quirky historical mystery series. Lady Hardcastle is seeking A Quiet Life in the Country, but author T.E. Kinsey ensures her sleuthing talents don't go to waste. Just what I needed - a good cosy!
