😂 Yes, I’d like to see their own stupid recommendations go!
Heard here in Townsville at first light, a koel calling (the old timers called them "storm birds"). So spring is here and it gladdens the heart.

To be honest I'm actually kinda glad because the people who use it recommend the weirdest stuff to me. The people who recommend stuff that actually sound good usually comment on reviews of things similar, which I find more helpful! Plus groups are always good for recs if you're looking for them. :)
This article came up on my Google feed, it's probably striaght forward to most but it's a good article that covers how to use your Kindle and explains how to share and get free books:https://www.zdnet.com/google-amp/arti...

Very sad news she was a great lady and will be missed :(
She'll be sadly missed by millions, a beautiful lady who I admired greatly. I hope she's with her beloved Philip now. RIP Queen Elizabeth.
Such amazing dedication to her role - only two days earlier she was receiving Britain's new Prime Minister.
It is sad news, and a little shocking, given that she was looking pretty spritely in the footage of her meeting the new Prime Minister. Vale.Brenda, I've sent you a msg.
Yes the news as I checked my email this morning was so sad, still shocked.. I loved seeing the stories I read online today, and the pictures of her life. I haven't seen any television yet, though. She will be fondly remembered by so many people in so many nations.
Late coming in on this but yes, saddened to hear of the Queen’s passing. She will be fondly remembered by many. Was admired by many too for her grace and constancy.
Has anyone heard from or about group member Li'l Owl? https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4...
She used to post often and I recall Brenda mentioning her absence once. Someone happened to comment on an old review of mine, and I saw Li'l Owl's old comment there.
I don't see any posts or reading updates since May 2021.
No she hasn't been around for a long time Patty, which unfortunately makes me think the worst. Rob is another one who was very active and hasn't been online for some months...
It is very unlike Li'l Owl to be quiet for so long, since she's normally very chatty. On her profile page, the last books she noted as reading were in May 2021 but she did mark some books 'to read' in April this year. It is concerning because she does have some chronic health issues so maybe she's not been well. Has anyone tried messaging her?
Seriously, when a friend request starts with "Hi pretty" and goes on to say they want to be just friends? Not even a mention of books? Block.

It's the hard part of having online friends - near impossible to know what's going on with them if they're offline.
I do hope both Lil Owl and Rob are just busy with their outside lives.
Marianne wrote: "Seriously, when a friend request starts with "Hi pretty" and goes on to say they want to be just friends? Not even a mention of books? Block."I get some that have a subject line longer than the message, which ends up being something like, 'hello.' XD
Phrynne wrote: "I am sad this morning to hear that Hilary Mantel has died suddenly aged seventy."Oh that is very sad news.
Exceptional football from Geelong this grand final. They fully deserved it. Well done from a sad Sydney Swans supporter.😢
Bad luck Dale! I was thinking of you while we were watching. Brilliant game by the boys - go the Cats!
Brenda wrote: "Bad luck Dale! I was thinking of you while we were watching. Brilliant game by the boys - go the Cats!"I doubt any team could have beaten Geelong today. Thought Isaac Smith was a worthy Norm Smith winner too.
He definitely was! They've been running hot all year Dale, today's win is their 16th or 17th win in a row, which is pretty spectacular!
Carolyn wrote: "That is very sad news. Such a talented writer."Such sad news and another loss to our wonderful creative world, gone too soon.
Marianne wrote: "Seriously, when a friend request starts with "Hi pretty" and goes on to say they want to be just friends? Not even a mention of books? Block."Yes.. I avoid the no books, only female frineds, picture perfect photo/military.. and when I miss one and get the message saying hi etc etc. Delete, block. So frustrating it is even a thing.
I have had a busy couple of weeks, an 18th, a high school graduation, one turning 21 yesterday who was a Dean Merit list recipient for last years academic year for Social Sciences at uni (I work there also) and husband's birthday. Just thinking what else.. oh just a bit of reading! Oh! Today I booked two tickets to see Gary Jubelin for his tour at Bathurst, and then bought his book. I have been spending like crazy lately! I forgot another happening. A work friend booked tickets for us to see Craig Silvey at the Joan Sutherland Centre for October. I have quickly arranged a couple of his books on audio, and just found out today I won a copy of Runt from A&U today. It's been interesitng around here.

I know this has been mentioned previously but I am NOT enjoying the new look Goodreads :( At first they had a "tell us what you think" keep popping up and now I wish I HAD told them what I thought, before that disappeared.

Thanks ladies.. so many of you have been around for so long during this time.. Brenda met Indy when he was a toddler! Can't believe he's a very big ten! And I have met many of you. I'm always talking about us AR's at work to be honest, as I'm always talking about my books and my reviews and pretty much everthing related to my reading joy.. and working in library doesn't hurt, either! And Sharon you raise a very good point, I've pretty much turned things around. I am no longer a night owl and it's helpful!
Brenda wrote: "Yes he was shy that day, wasn't he!!"He's such a handful these days that I don't remember his behaviour so much that day.. just the location of MacDonalds and your Danielle Steel generosity!
Haha! Yes - everyone knows where Maccas is ;) And I'd forgotten about that! Sorry Indy's a handful now..makes it hard doesn't it!!

I'm getting recommendations from "GR Team", another algorithm generation, from the look of it. Nothing I want to read so far...
