I just read Tenderness by Alison Macleod and gave it 4 stars.
I am not quite certain how to show my GR review here.

Rachel, right above this box, on the right, there is an option "add book/author" from here you can pull the book.
Then you have to have another screen opened on GR, go to your page and from under your "read books" pull this book and click view, it will show your review, copy the link from there and post it here.
Let me know if you have more questions.

Simon, glad to see that you enjoyed it :)
Started over weekend, Answer Creek in preparation for my bonus April book club discussion later this month . . . so far very good and cannot stop reading!
The Flight of Anja
This haunting story of Anja follows her mother, Freydis Eiriksdottir, from Vinland saga - a strong-willed woman, who defied the odds of her society.
5/5 The writing is beautiful and reflects the time period of ruthlessness and the place of harsh climate. The brutality of the time period may not be easy to read for some. This Vinland Viking saga comes alive with a fascinating character that engages readers with her perilous journey.

I did, but found some parts to be a little on the slower side . . .
Started last nite as it finally came into the library for me, West with Giraffes - my historical fiction book club's May pick
Simon, I just looked at this book, and I see very high rating for it. Looking forward to your thoughts.
Where the Wandering Ends
5/5 The time period of post-WWII Greece is beautifully breathed into this story from the first pages.
This story is character-driven with well-fleshed out characters, filled with backstories, and woven with lyrical prose. It is highly engrossing, making the pace fast. It brings many interesting facts that don’t overwhelm the story. It is fascinating to learn what a difference Queen Frederica made by creating a safe place for children and giving each an education. Thus, making a tremendous impact on humanity.

Hester
5/5 Most of the story is set in Salem in early 1800s, after the witch trials of 1692. The story explores a spellbinding subject of synesthesia, a unique sensory phenomenon of colors associated with letters. Something the main character experiences and has to keep it as secret.
Mesmerizing tale with a captivating character.

Simon, as much as I wanted to love this book, the style of writing was too distant for me.
