Ramsey Campbell is among the best, so I'm not surprised, Tony! I hope you continue to enjoy it.

Been wanting to read this for a while but that's true of so many of my books. :)
It's good so far.

So good! The ending really got to me.

I read two this past month. I think that once you read a couple the soup is pretty much the same; not too memorable. I think that the best things about these kind of books is that they read so fast.
Just finished House of Reckoning by John Saul. Starting Thinner by Stephen King (Bachman book) today.

I finished it yesterday and absolutely loved it! Excellent gore and everything that happened felt very real.
Sawyer wrote: "I’m currently reading The Groomer by Jon Athan and am almost finished! 🖤"Someone recommended this to me a few days ago, after I finished reading Woom. I'm planning to read it sometime in the next week or two.
I'm glad that you're enjoying it.
Currently reading The Cabin at the End of the World, not sure what I was expecting but it has my attention.

Michael Shea is unreal! One of his stories, jeez I'll never forget it, but I forgot the title.
Sam wrote: "Currently reading The Cabin at the End of the World, not sure what I was expecting but it has my attention."I loved that so much! M. Night Shyamalan has a new film coming of it, but they changed the title. I hope it doesn't suck.
I'm currently reading
by Gregg Hurwitz. I'm also reading
by John Langan. Lastly, I'm listening to
by S. A. Cosby. He's a relatively new author, mostly writing about crime and I ADORE his work.
Ooooh I heard about The cabin at the end of the world. Yes let's hope it doesn't suck. Movie adaptations always disappoint me.

Shea blows hot and cold for me. I haven't liked a lot of his Cthulhu Mythos short stories but I loved his posthumous novel Mr. Cannyharme.
Char wrote: "Michael Shea is unreal! One of his stories, jeez I'll never forget it, but I forgot the title.""The Autopsy" maybe? That's been adapted for Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, though I've yet to watch it.
I've read less than a handful of his stories, but like Christopher, I'm hot and cold. "The Autopsy" is far and away the one that hit me hardest. I think it shares an affinity with Campbell's "Who Goes There?" and along with some of its contemporaries like some of Ramsey Campbell's stories, Karl Edward Wagner's "Sticks" and T.E.D. Klein's "Black Man with a Horn" showed a different direction for Lovecraftian fiction from most of what came along at that time.
For what it's worth, I liked NOS4A2 a lot. It's a bit like early Stephen King, though, in that it takes a little while to gain momentum. Then, at least for me, it maintained that momentum to the end.The mini-series of it started well, then drove off a cliff.
How is Fairy Tale? I just finished Finders Keepers (book 2 in the Bill Hodges trilogy) and was sorta...meh...about it, but Fairy Tale is on my To Read list. I really liked the Outsider though and will most likely read the third book in the Hodges trilogy. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Fairy Tale is my fave SK book in ages. I had really enjoyed Later and Billy Summer last year...until the endings. I HATED the endings of both books. But other than Fairy Tale being a bit long-winded in parts, start to finish I think it's his best work in quite awhile. It's not really horror, more fantasy kind of like the fantasy elements of the Dark Tower series.

It's a super meh read for me personally. (But it's by no means a bad book, it just takes me some time to pick up and read.) But by now I don't really want to dnf it, because I'm almost half way done....
