Network Effect - Martha Wells - 4.5 stars

This is the first full-length novel about Murderbot, an AI security unit who has hacked himself/itself to freedom. The previous stories were novellas and I enjoyed this longer story. An old friend from a previous story returns and there is a teaser at the end for a new mission. Our hero has some human elements, which cause him to occasionally do things that aren't strictly logical and to somehow care what those stupid humans think. Yet he still gets exasperated with how humans keep getting themselves into trouble so that he has to rescue them instead of being able to finish watching his favorite shows. The audio for this series is a great asset to the series.

This was my favorite series of 2021. My husband doesn't read many books but he's read all of these since October.
