message 4: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Glad to see you are keeping your series in sight, ladies! I need to do a wrap up and move my stuff over to a 2022 thread.

I think the only series we have in common, from your list is Penn Cage, but I will have to check.

Kristie | 19137 comments I always love your thread titles! Have fun with your series reads. I really enjoyed the Jane Hawk series.

message 6: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Ah, yes, Jane Hawk.
I finished book 2 just last month, so book 3 is next up for me. Let me know when you might be reading it and I will join you if I can get it from my library.

Thanks Kristie! We have some catching up to do.

Jannene | 3124 comments Dom and I started the year off with an orphan, The Nameless Ones.

message 10: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Dom and I blew through The Nameless Ones so fast we burned the pages. It was a solid book and I loved having Louie and Angel have a book mostly of their own.

Next up, the long overdue Empire of Storms.

message 11: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We finished Empire of Storms. It was a good book but definitely not YA anymore with all of the sex scenes that I could do without.

message 12: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We are starting No Escape. Only two left in this series to finish.

message 13: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments No Texas Rangers on my horizon, but I hope you enjoy the remaining books. :o)

message 14: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments This is a rarity but I beat Dom, finished No Escape before she did. It was very good. I hope she ends up liking it.

message 15: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Next on the list is a standalone The Son.

message 16: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Finished The Son. It was very good.

Jannene | 3124 comments Starting You're Not Safe to finish the Texas Rangers series.

Trying to keep up, Jannene is reader so fast!

Jannene | 3124 comments Janice wrote: "You two truly are on fire burning through those books."

Dom normally puts me to shame by finishing before me. We wanted to finish a few series and since some are quite chunky, we need to read with purpose. Haha

message 22: by Jannene (last edited Jan 24, 2022 05:10PM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Next up on our murder list is The Never Game, starting Wednesday.

message 23: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I’m not sure what to think of Colter Shaw in The Never Game. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has some form of autism.

message 24: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We finished and it was a mutual rating of being a generous 3 star. We are still deciding whether we continue with the series or not.

message 25: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We finished Tower of Dawn and we both enjoyed it a lot. Plan on finishing that series by reading the final book next month.

Starting The Whispering Room today.

message 26: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19137 comments I really liked the Jane Hawk series. Hope you ladies enjoy it.

message 27: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments If I were not already reading 5 other books, I would try to get to the Jane Hawk book to read with you, but it is not available from my library right now. ;o(

message 28: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Well I haven’t gotten very far but we could wait up for you if you wanted on the next book.

Well, now I am embarrassed. I am sorry, but I already read it.
I was looking for a title from my museum challenge last year, and I saw the title in red.

I hope you enjoy it! Let me know when you are ready to read The Crooked Staircase

Cherie, Dom is finishing The Whispering Room and then we are considering reading the next one. Would you be ready? If not, we can wait. Let us know.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I downloaded the ebook from my library. I have it for the next 21 days. Say when and I will start it with you!

message 36: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Woohoo!

message 37: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I started today. I got up to chapter 16 before I had to do some work.

message 38: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I’m at chapter 31. Eyelids can’t stay open.

message 39: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Holy Smoke, Jannene!
I hope you sleep well. 😊

I just got back home and wanted to read another chapter or two. I am in chapter 17 and what Jane is telling Gilberto just triggered me to remember what has been going on in this series. (view spoiler). I had been having flashbacks to things that had happened before but not like this - until now. The story line with the twins has been “exciting”.

I agree about the twins that’s why I couldn’t stop. Then at times I was cursing their stupidity. I’m off work today, I may leave you in my dust!

message 41: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I just finished up work for the day. You two have me at a disadvantage by just having finished the previous book. I finished it November 9th. Doesn’t seem that long ago but names are not coming back to me. (view spoiler)

message 42: by Jannene (last edited Feb 25, 2022 06:53PM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments @Cherie(view spoiler)

I’m at chapter 108. I have a hard time putting this book down. I keep wondering how the series will all end.

message 43: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Understood, Jannene. I was watching Stargate Atlantis DVD with my granddaughter after we went and picked up pizza.

I am in chapter 35 (view spoiler)

message 44: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Just got to part 2.

Lol. They sound worst in the audiobook. I was cursing them!

message 46: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Dom,
My library doesn’t have the audiobook. Is the narrator good?
I am at part two, chapter 18. I am reading an ebook in ePub format. How is the audiobook divided up?
I noticed Jannene had posted once at chapter 108. In my book:
Part one has 55 chapters.
Part two has 31 chapters.
Part three has 28 chapters.
Part four has 36 chapters.
Part five has 30 chapters.
Darn - this is a looong book.

message 47: by Jannene (last edited Feb 27, 2022 12:10PM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments They are in parts but the chapters do not restart at one. I just started part four. The end of part three has me worried.

message 48: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Okay, so the audio says the progress as combining all of the chapters but when you listen they do break them up. I was incorrect as they do say part 4, chapter 1.

I finished the book. Cherie, I can’t wait for you to finish to hear your thoughts and discuss.

message 49: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I just got to part three, which my ebook says is %50.3 So, I‘m half way done.

I am not sure how much I can get done during the week. I am getting a new laptop this week and have to spend a few hours at our work site. I haven’t been in the building since March of 2019. I have a new router to install and I need to clean out my office to move stuff that is all piled up around my desk. And work - sheesh!
I have been hit by so many request that I have had to create a priority list. New projects are starting up an older ones are trying to get promoted, which means ECOs are required for me to write or approve. 🤣

message 50: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments No worries, Cherie. Take your time. The book was so engrossing that I couldn’t stop. I’m now back to my paperback. 😆
