I got a message that my laptop refresh was delayed, but no timeline yet. So strange too, because I cannot figure out what happened to the original message. I also have a dentist appointment on the 3rd. What a week. I will let you know how it goes. I got my OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) posted before the deadline today. My manager is such a great guy. He actually did a little of the pre-work on the objectives for me and I just had to wordsmith and add a few key results.

I hate the back and forth action in chapters in stories like this! It gives me heartburn!
It is especially bad now that there are three story lines, instead of just two. I am at chapter 20.

I am going to take a break from Jane and visit the Kane twins to see what is up next in their fight against Apophis.

I know you cannot answer my questions, but it is nice to be able to write them to someone sometimes. I don't want to spoil anything for Dom - at least I think she is still reading. (view spoiler)[ I thought it strange that Jane had not picked up the new code words about Uncle Ira from Hendrickson. I keep wondering what is going to happen if she keeps using the old code. He is so creepy. They are going to Tahoe, right? I have driven that section of the highway at night before. It was a beautiful drive. We stopped and got out of the car and just stared up at the sky. The milky way was above us and the stars were SO beautiful. It is the only time I ever saw it like that. My girls were in their teens and they were so excited. We have talked about it many times. Henderickson's mother sounds so AWFUL! (hide spoiler)]

The first real drive that I went on, by myself, after I bought my first car, a 1969 Volvo 4door sedan, I drove out Hwy 76 and up to the Palomar Observatory. It was closed. On the drive down the mountain, I almost drove off the side of the hill, trying to avoid hitting a chipmunk. It scared the hell out of me! It was the first time I ever felt my own mortality and I had not told anyone where I was going before I left home. (hide spoiler)]

Dead end for bad guys. The Crooked Stairway was fascinating. Poor BH. No wonder he was so strange. His mother had already injected him. Double nanobugs eating up his brain cells. I’m hoping Jane will get away, but what next?

I was so shocked when it ended so suddenly. My ebook said I was at 89% when I started reading and all of the sudden it was over at 94%.
The whole last 6% was a preview of the next book. When I sent it back to the library, there was only one hour left before it expired.

Dom and I went on a spree (okay maybe two books isn’t quite a spree) reading stand alone books. We read Before She Knew Him and The Kind Worth Killing. I have to say he’s becoming a favorite author and they are stand alone. I really liked both books and had no clue about the ending. Dom was apparently unconvinced unlike my gullible self on the first book who had an idea where the book was heading.

Tomorrow she wants to start Kingdom of Ash to finish a series. The audio is over 33 hours which I have but she has the print. This aught to be fun! Then maybe we can convince Cherie that Jane Hawk is feeling neglected and get back to her, now that I can finally turn off the lights again…all joking aside that is a good series too.

We killed the Throne of Glass series. The last book was so long but very good. We both loved it.

We are reading The Humans for the buddy read then we will be ready for Jane Hawk if Cherie is as well.

The Humans was ok. If it kept the same momentum as part 1 then it would have been a lot more enjoyable. The first part was comical and the rest was plain sad and boring. Dom didn’t start it yet.

Cherie, Dom and I are joining forces to read The Forbidden Door. Jane is close to having her series killed off by us. 😆

I started it last night, finally but only got to chapter 6 before my eyes would not stay open. Work is done for the day, so I plan to get more time in.

This one feels different. Re chapter 12. That was a surprise! Can’t believe the A’s stood down from the Saba’s army standoff!

Right? I thought the same thing. It gets better but more gruesome.

The guy that doesn’t believe in anything messes with my head! What he did to the cowboy at the nightclub. Awful! The technology stuff is terrifying too. Google Street View makes me want to crawl under a rock and never come out. The tracker that Ivan put on Jane’s car is BAD!!!

Egon’s beliefs are crazy enough but she is a piece of work! (hide spoiler)]. I am not sure if I need to use spoilers or not here.

I like Travis and Cornell together.

I currently at chapter 54. Seems slow compared to the previous three books. The Judge giving Egon the news etc., was weird.
The ramp up and activity to Borrego Valley is definitely setting up the next part of the story! THAT is scary!

Re Jane’s list of well-prepared traveler stuff did not include her hammer and screw driver. Scotch tape seemed strange.

The FORCE gathered in Borrego is impossible to conceive. How is Jane going to have any chance to get in, let alone, get out???

I see they have changed the control phrase again.

It is getting stranger and stranger with Egon and company pursuing the Hawks. Can’t wait to see where “the script” takes them tomorrow.
