Corina | 2768 comments The one I had put down for the March Mini was a purple. I can squeeze it in for March or leave it for April.
Otherwise, for April card, I'm pretty sure have black, white, pink and orange covers on my TBR.
Let me know what works :)

I mean if you were going to start the purple one for the mini, but there's no need to rush it then we can use it for April, so I'll skip purple in my plan. We all can log books for the rest of the colors and we'll decide as we move along.

Corina | 2768 comments Sounds good then. Will let you know if I get to it for March or not ;)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments I've added books to the April Spreadsheet that I intend on reading during the month. I think they all seem to help meet task requirements. Also, If anyone has read any of the books I listed please update the Reverse column on the spreadsheet. That way we can know using it for Reverse is an option too = )

message 360: by JoJo_theDodo (new)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments I completed I'll Be Gone in the Dark One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara and updated the spreadsheet. I'm starting Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell for my print book and starting The Final Revival of Opal & Nev by Dawnie Walton for my audiobook.

I know I read Island of the Blue Dolphins in school (maybe middle school???), but that was many, many years ago and I can barely remember how the story goes. So if anyone has read either of these books already please make note on the Reverse column. It looks like The Revival of Opal & Nev could be used for an Orange Cover as well though.

message 361: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments If someone has a Blue book that's a 2 and 3, we can use it to kill two color cards with that one book in the 17th hand.

message 362: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Menezes (vanessa_menezes) | 441 comments I guess I do. I'm currently reading it. I'll finish it by tonight. I know it has a 3. I'll confirm if it has a 2 too.

message 363: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments I also have one book that works for Blue 2, 3 and Skip and one Blue book that works for 3 and 9. I was planning to start either one of them tonight or tomorrow.

message 364: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Completed A history of wild places and updated our spreadsheet. Let me know about the Blue one :)

The Blue 2&3 will be more helpful.

message 366: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Sounds good, started it today. It will work for Blue 2, 3 or Skip if we need :)

Verónica | 417 comments +++ UPDATE+++

For week 1 we are doing pretty good.

Left:
Five 5's.
Two 7's.
Four Reverse.
Just one more Overload and I'm on it.

Colors:
6 Yellow
2 Red
4 Red
9 Blue
1 Green
4 Green
9 Green
Skip Green

I'm reading a 6 Yellow and a 9 Blue, which leaves six more color cards, not surprisingly most of them are Greens. A really cool combo would be 1 Green and a Reverse. Corina your book "Britt-Marie was here" has both 😁. A few of Draw 2 cards were conveniently placed in the same hands of some of the hard cards.

message 370: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Thanks for the update, Verónica!
I am planning to pick up Britt-Marie next. I am also currently reading a 2 or 4 Red and a 9 or skip Blue if we need it or can be used for other cards.
I also have some 5s and 7s in mind.

message 371: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Hi team, finished Britt-Marie last night and updated our spreadsheet.

message 372: by JoJo_theDodo (new)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments I have this Green book that I can read next.. Apple Turnover Murder (Hannah Swensen, #13) by Joanne Fluke

and it will fill a Green 4 that we need. I'm going to add it to the spreadsheet and read it next!

message 373: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Finished The Guest List and updated our spreadsheet.

message 374: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments We're done with the 7's 🙌, only one 5 and one Reverse left, I just started one for Reverse.

And with Jojo's green book we'll only need a 9 Green. I do have a book for that but is on the longer side. So if someone else has one let me know.

2 Red still pending, I'm reading the 4 Red.

message 375: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments I'm currently reading a 2 Red but its on the longer side hehe...will finish it this week though. I have a shorter Green 4 and Skip, but it doesn't seem to cover Green 9 as well. I found another one that would cover a Green 9 which is not too long.
Should I go for the Green 9 instead?

I found another one for 9 Green, is shorter, and more appealing right now. If you're not feeling like reading yours I'll take the card.

message 377: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Hi Verónica, I'm good with reading both of the Greens as I own both. I didn't know if we are already covered for the Green skip, so there was no point in me starting that one, so I needed to go for the Green 9 instead.

We only need 4 & 9 Green, Jojo is reading the 4 and you have the 9.

message 379: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Right, that works out then. I didn't check the spreadsheet so I thought we needed the skip as well :) All good, I plan to start the Green 9 tonight.

How did you like it? I thought it was definitely a bit strange...

message 382: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments To be honest, I liked it a bit more than I expected, the writing was good and the concept interesting. Definitely a bit strange and I felt that I needed more insight and more context.

Verónica | 417 comments Hello everyone!

April mini has been posted
April Mini Challenge

Countdown
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

Please check it out and let me know if you have any questions.

message 384: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Thanks, Verónica, will search some books to fit the tasks today.
I will stretch out and finish my current 2 Red on the 15th as I just read a scene last night that had food involved, so it fits there as well.

message 385: by JoJo_theDodo (new)

JoJo_theDodo | 320 comments Okay, So I'm going through my books and starting to list some on the Mini tab. I have a question though for the task:
Read a book with one or more children on the cover, Do you think this book could count? It is a child, but you can't see the characters face.

Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos

message 386: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Regarding the people on the cover tasks:
I assume that drawn people count?
How about the outlines of a man and a woman? I'm thinking like this one: The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Yes it does.

Yes, counts as people, one women or one men.

message 389: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Great, thanks for that!

message 390: by Verónica (last edited Apr 13, 2022 07:39PM) (new)

Verónica | 417 comments For all the books that fit in the mini please add the reason in the last column on the main April log (next to the color one). This way the books that qualify but were not logged in the mini (because the category was full with planned books) can be added later. We'll do it like the last time, the books finished first will be given priority unless the book planned is in progress.

Corina | 2768 comments Sounds good to me.
Another question that popped up: would a festival be considered a party?or would a highschool prom be a party as well?

Verónica | 417 comments Corina wrote: "Sounds good to me.

It says "some kind of party" so I think yes.

Corina | 2768 comments Right...haha, makes sense.

message 394: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Hi, do we need to write down the pages and the exact food, drink, utensils mentioned?

message 395: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Completed Jade War by Fonda Lee which will work for one of our Red cards as well as for the mini.

message 396: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments Corina wrote: "Hi, do we need to write down the pages and the exact food, drink, utensils mentioned?"

There's no need to be too specific.

message 397: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Great, I was thinking I need to go back and find the exact page haha
All good

message 398: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Hi, in the mini reason column on the April sheet I will write down all the tasks the book could fit into just in case we need to switch :)

message 399: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments Well, turns out we do need to be specific with the reason for words in text on the April mini. We need to add word, page number or chapter in case of audiobooks. Sorry 😬.

message 400: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Ok, no problem, I will go back and find the pages.
