I think I put it Home Before Dark by Riley Sager. I checked the colour and it was more than 50% green and in the synopsis I read that it takes place in the Vermont woods. So hope that fits :-)
The plan sounds good to me.

Just checking in, how is everybody doing? how was your weekend?
It seems Verity doesn't cut it for the green 7 so I'm taking that one off for that card, but I saw other book logg..."
Hi Veronica,
Just curious why doesn't the book Verity fulfill the green 7 card?
My weekend was okay, not much going on so I was able to focus on finishing up the book I had been reading. So I will take a little break until Feb 1st and start my reading for UNO!
I like the plan of waiting until week 3 to see what is left that we need to get done. I'm excited to get started!

Too much dark that might or might not be green but black, and Tineye didn't help clarify, when it's too ambiguous it's a no for the mods, and they're very picky.

I think I will start with The Island of Missing Trees cause I just saw a great review of it.
How about you? What is everyone planning to read?

as soon as it is Feb. 1st! I might change up the books I added to the team list a little. I started a new series recently and I'd really like to read the next book in the series soon.

It's always exciting to discover new books.

Challenge is around the corner.
UNO 2022 Challenge Countdown
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
I usually start at the same time a print (relax daytime), e-book (before sleep) and audio (doing chores). I think I'll start with all non-fiction: My Promised Land (about Israel), Minds made for Stories (language and writing) and Mating in Captivity (sexuality and relationships). Two of these are for color cards, Blue 6 and Red 8.
Just a reminder that only consecutive completed hands count for points. We cannot leave (at the end of the month) a hand incomplete and jump to the next. It's not necessary to finish color cards first, but if you feel like reading them, it's ok.
Happy reading to all!

My list will probably change as well, but will let you know. I usually do the same with one print, one e-book and one audio.
Forgot to mention The Island of Missing Trees will work for Blue 6 and a few other prompts. Will also probably start The Soulmate Equation for Yellow 1,6. They are both on the spreadsheet.
I don't read that much non fiction but those sound interesting, Verónica!

Another Blue 6 it's great, we have a WD4 card in the first hand, which is a duplicated color card.

Buddy reads are a great way to share the reading experience of a book :-)

Book: Josh and Gemma Make a Baby
Author: Sarah Ready
Pages: 366
Date: 2/2/22
UNO Cards it fits:
0: Stand alone
4: Character F - Ian Fortune
5: Character I - Ian Fortune
6: Author S - Sarah
9: Place N- New York

So, you can use the first or last name of a character? for author you can use the first or last name too? Correct?
Also, should we all do a completion post whenever we complete a book?

Maybe they are reading shorter books...who knows...

Book: The Soulmate Equation
Author: Christina Lauren
Pages: 282
Date: 3rd February 202
UNO Cards it fits:
1: Standalone
2: Title starting with T
4: Character F - Fizzy
6: "Soulmate" Title and San Diego Location
Reverse: Vanessa and Kira read it
Cover Colour: Yellow
Also updated our Google spreadsheet and added the book to my UNO shelf

And leaving a completion Post is optional but do update the excel sheet!

I'll update the official spreadsheet on the weekend. In the meantime I'm placing the books for the cards in our spreadsheet (February Cards sheet) so you can check how things are going.

A book I absolutely loved:
The Island of Missing Trees
Author: Elif Shafak
Pages: 368
Date: 3rd Feb
Cover: blue
Just a question on this as I wasn't sure it would apply: one of the actual characters in the book is a fig tree, would this go under F character?

And leaving a completion Post is optional but do update the excel sheet!"
Great! I read a lot and the completion posts take a lot of time. Fortunately all the information is on the spread sheet.

I happen to look at points spreadsheet that UNO Pixie had recently posted to the UNO chat thread. I'm not following any of the other groups threads though..

Definitely Jojo, it's all about having fun and enjoying your reading experience, that's the most important thing!
I'm just wanting to focus on reading from my shelves and decrease the number of unread books I have there. :)

I'll be highlighting in green on our spreadsheet the books I am placing in the hands as I go. It's more for control purposes. You don't need to highlight them yourselves.
If you want to do a completion post it's fine. It helps to give me the heads up that a book has been finished, since I receive a notification. But it doesn't need to have all info, maybe just the book. But I'll be checking the spreadsheet regularly to look for books with finished date on them.

Not sure if you notice my question about the fig tree? Would it count for F character? It is an actual character in the book with dedicated chapters.

Oh yes let me check that one out. I think it does count for a 4, but let me confirm.

I just finished Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout and updated it on the spreadsheet.

Nice! I hope we'll finally be able to complete our first hand, hehe.

I absolutely loved The Kite Runner, it is quite a sad book though. Hope you love it as well if you read it.

I had selected that one as a 6 yellow, but I saw two more books for that color card, so yes, now we have our first reverse ;-).
