If we pick say 5 books to read in January off the January lists, do we have to read them in January to get the points? If we don't finish reading until a later month, will we still get to score them?

You score your books as you finish them, even if it takes more than a month.

Lanelle, I am a bit perplexed on a few points.
First off: "If your score is under 10,000, you can boost it by voting for and/or adding books to that list. "
Do we need to have voted this year on the list? Because one of the lists for January I already have 38 votes from before. Do those count?

Second: what about other books in a series? For instance the Mystery list, most of the books in the series, such as Hannah Swensen or Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery, appear to be on the listopia. But I have not verified that fact. So do we add it and then can read it? Or something else????

Thirdly: the top/main listopia link, you say "You can pick any list that shows up on the main Listopia page. The categories are: Featured Lists, Lists with Recent Activity, Lists My Friends Have Voted On, Popular Lists.
You cannot click on a 'more' button, which would have you leave the main Listopia page. You have to choose a list that is currently on that page. (Be aware that the lists on the main page change regularly.)"
So my friends are different from another persons, recent activity will change and if the lists "change regularly" how will you verify them?
Sounds like if we pull a book from one it would be prudent to note the listopia title and link ASAP so as to not loose it.

You can add and then read it. It won't give you very many points though :(

The 21 boosts we have, is it up to 21 each time or do we subtract what we have used from that total?

Example: I use 11 boosts to get my book to 10k, so I then have 10 left at my disposal or is it always 21?

You are not limited to 21 boosts. You can add books and/or vote for books as many times as you'd like. Did you get that supposed limit from my example?

But in a different list I voted for 77 books that would be my multiplayer for the boost?

Do you want us to just record what list we are using? Or who the friend was? If so just the name or with a link?

3. I can't remember if it was already said, but do we have to pick numbers and stick with them for each month? Or the same number each month? (like 4 books in January, 4 in February, etc)

3a. If we have to pick a specific number, does it have to be before the month starts?

3b. And can it change if we get in a reading streak or a slump?

No, it's not too late.

If you read a book that's on one of the 6 given lists or one of the lists on the main page, you can count it.

There are no set numbers that you have to stick to.

I read one book for the month of January, and didn't even have to boost the number. Next month might be different. I might have to read two or three books to reach the suggested average score.

Average score per book to reach 1 million in twelve months:
1 book a month - 83,400
2 books a month - 41,700
3 books a month - 27, 800
4 books a month - 20,900
5 books a month - 16,700

Circling back to this. I assume this would only count for the 6 chosen lists in the month and not from lists on the main page.

Another way to look at it and ask is at any time during the year, if I read a book that ends up being on any of the chosen lists throughout the year, I can score it for the month that list was chosen?

I'm asking again and double checking because on the January lists (and the Popular lists on the main page) both have a lot of books I will probably end up reading this year but didn't actually read this month - I don't want to take advantage and score them later if that wasn't your intent. But if the lists remain 'active' all year then woohoo! But if not, good to know that too.

I would not complain if it went up a day or two earlier, but was mainly just curious, so I know when I can start looking thru the lists for books I might be able to read in February. 😉😁🤓

My intent for the challenge is to read a books or books from one of the 6 lists provided or from the Listopia main page that month. If someone gets a late start on a book or it takes longer to finish it than they anticipated, then they can certainly still count the book for that month.

But go ahead and take advantage of the Popular lists to make this challenge a bit easier. I know if I am having a hard or busy month, I will pull a book that will score high points from the main Listopia page.

Correct; only if the score is under 10,000. And yes, you can add a book to a list and count it.
