I am looking for a book about teens in a world where they have to play a virtual combat like game and I think if they were good at it they became a soldier. Main character is a poor girl who lives in an apartment with the roof falling apart. I don't remember too many details but I read the book between 2008 and 2014. The main girl had a close relationship with the other main male character. There might have been a mall involved where they went to play the game. It is dystopian i think and seemed futuristic. I am american and from texas and the book was in English.
