I'm looking for an UK Historical fiction middle grade book that I received around 1988/1989. It was set within the Victorian or Edwardian era, about two children (possibly twins) going on a treasure hunt on their birthday within their small village, receiving small gifts along the way, including pieces of barley sugar. The edition I had was a Marks and Spencer special hardback edition, it had a cream cover and an illustration of the layout of the village on the front cover.
