I finally got the dark mode working for the Goodreads app on my phone. YAAAAY!
Sadly, this trick only works on Android phones so yeah.
Also, you need to have Android 10 or up.You enable the "force dark mode" or something like that in the developer options in the phone settings.
And if anyone wants to enable dark mode for the browser version, here's an extension that'll make all the sites use dark mode.https://chrome.google.com/webstore/de...
IDK if it let's you add websites to the exception list or not. Haven't played with it much.

i guess i'll just have to wait until GR actually starts doing something useful for its users

Wait, if you are on an Iphone, you can try to enable High Contrast or invert colors.
You should be able to find it in settings> accessibility
Or just search for high contrast in settings
