The Virtual Volunteer feature? no, not yet. It's still being tested with a few trusted testers, and isn't still available for everyone to try out.
But the app Be My Eyes has helped me a lot. Volunteers on there are really kind and helpful.

Yep, it's an AI chatbot. It's just outputting whatever it scraped from the internet for the most part, so it's not that creative. At least this model.

Yeah, so anyone can become a volunteer on that platform. You just need to install the Be My Eyes app, and signup as a volunteer.
And yes, who ever needs assistance will point their phone's camera at something and the volunteer will explain. I've used the app to know street signs, read the display on devices that don't have a screen reader, read printed documents, read user manuals, and used it in a lot of other situations where I needed help.
I use a screen reader on my phone as well. Android has a screen reader called Talkback built-in to the OS, and IOS (iPhones) have a built-in screen reader called VoiceOver.
Basically, you just tap on an item to know what it is, and double tap to activate that item.
