StardustReader (infinitythoughts) | 2662 comments Why Does Turning Red Get So Many Weird Reviews?! by Xiran Jay Zhao https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYzW1...

I think everyone should watch Turning Red

sephora ౨ৎ⸆⸉ (godblessthishotmess) | 15276 comments turning red is sooo good
and yeah i love xiran's review they're so funny haha
i saw this white dude saying it was bad bc it didnt acknowledge 9/11 :///
like that makes no sense dude, were people not allowed to be happy at all for a full two years after that?

StardustReader (infinitythoughts) | 2662 comments IKRRRR!
Also, I love that Meilin inherits panda powers from her mothers side. I'm all for matrilineality.
And that movie talks about periods, which I think not many movies have done.
I love how Xiran puts it while replying to a comment in their review: “Oh yeah it happens to most girls as they grow up. They start bleeding once a month, but it's as natural as pooping or peeing. It's not something that they can control though, so be kind if you happen to find that one of them is going through it.”

I'm such an idiot. I realized so late that Chinese names have the surname first and then the given name

:D
You shouldn't be scared of period talk in movies, or anywhere for that matter. It's like someone Saying: “oh nooooo! I can't talk about me going to the bathroom to pee”

sephora ౨ৎ⸆⸉ (godblessthishotmess) | 15276 comments true but its still weird idk man it's kinda my mom's doing

I'll watch that video later.
I also need to try that period cramp simulator.
Also, how does it feel to have cramps?
Every person experiences cramps differently (or that's what I think at least), so if you are a person who menstruates, and you're reading this comment, please do share how it is to have cramps (it's not like I'm popular that people are going to come to my nook, but still). If you're comfortable sharing, that is.
I'm very curious

lollll u are very popular
i mean, for me, it's pain in your lower abdomen and it's basically everywhere on your lower abdomen, and your legs hurt a lot as well
it's not sharp pain, it's more of a throb (not dull) that's really intense and piercing
i know some people's backs hurt too
and the average person does get intense cramps but not as intense to the point where they can't do their daily stuff, but i get really really bad ones for the first four days and the worst part is they wont go away for at least an hour or two no matter how much you move/shift, and that's pretty much it lol
also EVERYTHING gets on ur nerves during then so i'm generally an irritable person to be around, and i eat a lot of chocolate idk why

hope this helped :D

Nah, I'm not, but if you say so.
Also, loved the video!
DO you do something to distract yourself from the pain?
I wouldn't say I understand the pain, because it would be a blatant lie.
Also, are there things that you won't do when you are on your periods, that you would normally do?
Yeah, it helped a lot, thank you

sephora ౨ৎ⸆⸉ (godblessthishotmess) | 15276 comments to distract myself, ummm putting heat on your stomach helps, so i have a stuffed animal that i microwave lol
if it gets really bad, and i have to go outside that day, i'll take a tylenol
i mean, not really, but i tend to not come downstairs that much and since everything gets on my nerves i don't vaccuum or clean the table etc.

hmm
it's hard to explain?
for me it's like this pain in my lower abdomen but it's not like a sharp pain that goes STAB, and then fades, yk?
it's more like a constant throb lmao
and sometimes it's hard to tell if i'm hungry or have cramps jhgtfyuuhg so ig it's kinda similar to that? just without the rumbly rumble lmao
does that make sense

This book…
I don't have words (no I do actually).
The disability rep is awesome, the queer rep is fantastic, bringing down the patriarchy is fabulous, the world building is super cool, and the characters and their actions are mind-blowing!

Final words?
fuck the patriarchy in all it's forms
also a few more final words?
go go go go go read this.

“Female. That label has never done anything for me except dictate what I can or cannot do. No going anywhere without permission. No showing too much skin. No speaking too loudly or unkindly, or at all, if the men are talking. No living my life without being constantly aware of how pleasing I am to the eye. No future except pushing out son after son for a husband”

“How many aspects of the piloting system - and the world in general - are based on sterile facts, and how many are just illusions? Illusions that reinforce themselves generation after generation, because people don't question the convenient boxes they're penned into, the arbitrary rules they live by?”
