@rayonna katniss’s mother has severe emotional issues. After her husband died in the mining accident Katniss’s mom told her that she needed to stay focused. Well in the books the districts in the books don’t have health care, and her mother tried to stay alive but she can’t because she doesn’t have the help she needs.
